When you think of the most beautiful place you know, we are willing to take a guess that it’s colourful. As development progresses in abundance, here is a little treatise on colour and its importance to place. https://lnkd.in/dKyFcw2t

The history of humanity is colourful. From our earliest days daubing terracotta figures on the walls of our homes to dyeing our clothes shades that were created by scientific accident, humans have evolved to see, appreciate, and love colour - and to draw towards it. Public spaces have a tendency to lean hard into the greys, the browns, the neutrals. A little touch of colour can make a world of difference, creating a space that feels more comfortable, and a joy to be in - but there are a few things to consider after you put down the bench, and before you pick up the paintbrush. Here are a few, just to get you started. Curious for more? Read our latest blog post: https://lnkd.in/gmhr5TRg

A splash of colour can make all the difference. 🎨 But what makes a mural truly resonate with a community? This edition of our podcast explores the intention behind public art and the sense of ownership it can inspire. "People respond, identify with (the art), and then that resonates with them," explains {{linkedin_mention(urn:li:person:aKrtieF9Gq|Lee Bofkin)}}. A retail park might not just be a retail park. For certain boroughs, a retail park is a community hub, a play centre, and a trip out to meet your friends - and while Gallions Reach had all the criteria necessary to become more than a retail park, it needed a little extra seating to take it just a bit further. That’s where we come in! Read the full case study here: https://lnkd.in/dPN7-r7C #FurnitubesInternational

Did you know our showroom is open for visits? You do now! Come by, have a coffee on us, and sit on every bench in the place before you pick your next seating arrangement, your better bin, or your new-plan planters. What you sit on, pick up, or peruse is what you get when you order, so if you're still on the fence or not sure what fits your area best, a showroom visit will help at least narrow down the options. Schedule your showroom tour today: https://lnkd.in/d6YTnjH9 See you by the benches! #FurnitubesInternational

From Trafalgar Square (the battle) to Trafalgar Square (the location), old battle cannons can be spotted all around the UK serving as bollards - but not all big guns are made equal. Here's a little history to get you updated. #furnitubesinternational

Increasing trees in urban areas is a healthcare issue as much as it is an environmental one. We know trees are good for us. We celebrate cities that plant more trees. We know they absorb C02 and other pollutants, and we know they lower the surrounding thermal temperature so that we can enjoy the outdoors for longer during hotter months. But there are two other health-related reasons that I just learned about that should increase the urgency around making trees a mainstay in every urban environment. 🌳 Trees Boosts Immune Function: They release airborne compounds called phytoncides, which help boost the activity of natural killer (NK) cells, a type of white blood cell that helps the body fight infections and cancer https://lnkd.in/eevtTtgK 🌳 Trees Reflect Near-infrared light: NIR is part of the light spectrum just beyond what we can see. This cools the environment around the trees and directly brings health benefits; from improved circulation, improved mitochondrial function and reduced inflammation: https://lnkd.in/etB9ZRmR These studies are based on forest therapy and forest bathing. And while the name would imply exclusion of urban environments, what stops us from enjoying at least some of these benefits by bringing in as many trees into our cities as we can? There are enough trees per square mile in Atlanta for it to be classified as a forest - why not our other cities? Thank you to Ulysse Dormoy Atrium for helping me understand and discover the benefits of near infra-red and how trees re-radiate. #trees #urbanforests #nearinfrared #healthbenefits #phytoncides #health #getoutside
