I’ve been exploring ski resorts that break away from the usual chalet style and discovered a wave of #hotels bringing fresh vibes to top spots like the Alps and Pyrenees. One standout is GRACE LA MARGNA ST MORITZ – renovated, restored, and modernised, it's back as the ultimate luxury Alpine getaway. Renovated by Divercity Architects and interior designer Carole TOPIN, Grace La Margna, open since 2023, combines the amenities of a five-star luxury with a level of detail to look and feel like a boutique hotel. In 2024, The Belfry was named ‘England’s Best Incentive Hotel’ at the World MICE Awards. Currently undergoing an £80m development, the hotel is set to strengthen its position as a premier golf and leisure destination, adding 149 rooms to become a 468-key property. The Ryder Grill, renowned for its exceptional dining, has been expanded by over 150 covers to meet growing demand. Now beautifully reimagined, it blends elegance and functionality, creating the perfect setting for indulgent meals and special occasions. #Newopening. This week I am focusing on some amazing new ski resorts!!! Fusion Interiors Group (FIG) have won an alpine hotel project in Gstaad so mountain hospitality is on my radar!! This winter, I’ve fallen for Experimental Chalet Val d’Isère! I love what the group is doing, bringing their signature style and personality to some of the world’s most exciting destinations, so I thought it was the perfect time to spotlight their latest alpine hotspot, in Val-d'Isère, France. Opened in January, this charming gem is brought to life by the Experimental Group and interior designer Dorothee Meilichzon. The hotel is ideally located very close to the slopes and, at the same time, it’s right in the resort's epicentre, which offers an atmosphere that I love so much. This is Experimental’s grandest opening yet, with 113 rooms and suites, two restaurants, a cocktail bar, a spa, and an indoor pool. My happy place 😌 Bali, without question, holds a special place in my heart. One of my latest discoveries here is Gdas Bali Health and Wellness Resort, a plant-based holistic resort nestled in Ubud, very close to town. Part of Small Luxury Hotels of the World (SLH), the resort held a soft grand opening in 2022 and is set to be fully operational by June 2025. Speaking with the hotel owner, Russell Simmons, about his vision, he shared that he believes this hotel will have the most state-of-the-art wellness and health facilities anywhere else on the island. Seeing the wellness centre under development was a treat for me. The gym is massive and very high-tech, with rooms for vitamin intravenous, spinning, cryotherapy, ice baths, saunas, and steam rooms. There are even 3 different styles of yoga palapas, including one for hot yoga! The resort’s design deserves a mention. It’s a thoughtful blend of traditional Balinese architecture with modern touches, creating a peaceful yet contemporary feel. Designed by Indonesian architect Ida Bagus Oka Genijaya, Gdas houses 24 elegant rooms and three villas, all designed with great attention to detail. Oh, and I can’t miss mentioning the Thai Green Curry, which was top-notch!!! Best for: Fitness and wellness fanatics wanting a luxury social vibe with out of this world facilities! Today I am proud to share one of FIG’s projects in Amsterdam, Citadines Canal, which should be picking up some awards this year like all of our projects!! 😝😜😝 Congratulations to everyone involved — it’s been a pleasure collaborating with the Ascott team again on this landmark European flagship, our 7th hotel for the worlds leading extended stay brand! Launched in 2024, the building’s heritage as a Dutch weaving house is woven (pun intended) into the design, with patterns reflected in wallpaper, fabrics, carpentry, and artwork. Our approach blends classical themes with modern functionality, inviting guests to connect with the building’s authenticity and charm. This project reflects FIG’s commitment to creating exceptional spaces that transcend the ordinary, celebrating Amsterdam’s charm while ushering in a new era of luxury extended stay. Happy New Year to everyone!! Looking back 2024 was actually a remarkable year for the industry, with 2,731 #hotel openings globally! Asia-Pacific led with 1,252 launches, followed by the Americas (745), Europe (612), and the Middle East & Africa (122). More insights to come this week! Major global hotel operators are expanding rapidly across Asia-Pacific. Nearly half of new hotels in development are tied to five key operators: Marriott International, Accor, IHG Hotels & Resorts, Hilton, and Wyndham Hotels & Resorts. The Standard Hotel expanded its Asia-Pacific portfolio by launching its Singapore property on December 15, 2024. The hotel features 143 rooms, a tranquil garden, a rooftop pool, and signature restaurants. With lush greenery, mid-century modern touches, and an “urban oasis” vibe, it reflects Singapore’s vision as a “City in a Garden.” What an inspiring product! Congrats to everyone involved!
