As 2024 nears its conclusion we look back at just a few of the many charitable initiatives members of the FuturePlus community have been involved in: For 2024, Hanson Wade’s charity partner was Young Lives vs Cancer, raising over £10,000 through a variety of activities such as 11 sky dives, bake sales, organised running events and other social activity. The team also raised more than $21,000 (USD) for the Emily Whitehead Foundation by organising a 5k run for employees and customers. The organisation is also a proud supporter of Bookmark Reading Charity, with several Hanson Wade Group volunteers providing one-to-one support to improve primary school-aged children’s reading skills. Employees took part in 67 one-to-one reading sessions to primary aged children, plus two volunteers for their big help out event. Other initiatives included employees paddling through the Paddington Basin and Little Venice to clean up the waterways, collecting 30kg of rubbish and supporting more than 200 students with the CV writing and interview skills. RH Amar’s annual charity prize draw forms part of the company’s wider commitment to donate 10% of its profits each year to charity, through this commitment over £2m has been donated to charity since 2013. The charities are nominated by RH Amar’s customers, brand partners and suppliers. This year’s charities: - Toybox, nominated by JURANG WHOLESALE LIMITED (£10,000) - Cancer Research UK (CRUK), nominated by A Di Maria & Son (£5,000) - Great Ormond Street Hospital Charity, nominated by Ocado Retail (£5,000) - Crisis, nominated by Ritter Courivaud Ltd. (£5,000) RH Amar is now also an official sponsor of two rising female football stars at the business’ local team, Wycombe Wanderers Women. This season, RH Amar are sponsoring first-team player Ellen Wardlaw and development squad player Skye Stone. The partnership was developed by RH Amar’s 'Doing Business Better Community’ team, which focuses on how the business can make a positive impact in its local community. 800 cyclists set off from Land's End to take on 980-miles of Britain's most iconic scenery across 9 days, before finishing the challenge in John O'Groats.. FuturePlus member, Babble's team, affectionately known as the Babble RABble took part, tackling climbs such as Cheddar Gorge, Cothelstone Hill, The Devil's Beef Tub. £163,679 has been raised so far for the My Name'5 Doddie Foundation. 1 in 300 people will be affected by Motor Neuron Disease in their lifetime. The Babble Ride Across Britain was just one of the many challenges the Babble team took on to support them in finding a cure. Last week, as part of the Sustainable Futures Live event series, FuturePlus and Sustainable Ventures convened at Manchester's newly renovated Renold Building to explore how businesses can build long-term resilience in a changing environment. With Manchester's £37 billion tech innovation ecosystem, a Combined Authority approach and thriving business community pulling in the same direction, it’s not surprising the city is pioneering new approaches to business resilience. Key insights: + Sustainability isn't a specialist function - it needs to be embedded in everyone's role and connected to business productivity, efficiency and resilience + The biggest barrier is not a lack of interest, but knowing what questions to ask and balancing short-term pressures with long-term goals + Cross-sector collaboration and peer learning is key to practical implementation At FuturePlus, we work with ordinary businesses - from accountants to manufacturers - who want to do what they do as well as they can, creating the most positive and least negative impact. We're grateful to have brought together such a diverse group of leaders. Thanks to Sustainable Ventures North, who hosted us and leaders from CQuel, NeuWave Technologies, Turing Innovation Catalyst Manchester, Potter Clarkson, Greater Manchester Combined Authority, Barclays, Department for Business and Trade, Sister (Bruntwood SciTech) and The University of Manchester. Even better, it was another reason to connect with FuturePlus customers Castore Sportswear and Form1 Partners. To find out how they are using the platform to integrate business resilience in their day-to-day, book a demo to see the FuturePlus demo. 👀 Full report coming soon with key learnings and practical next steps for Manchester's business ecosystem, but check out this blog for more. And if you want to do something in your region, we’re running a roundtable roadshow in 2025, so let us know where to add a stop! - #Sustainability #SustainableBusiness #SustainabilityLeadership

On #HumanRights Day we explore the importance for businesses to have a Human Rights Policy. A Human Rights is a public expression of a company’s commitment to respect internationally recognised human rights standards within its operations. It should send a clear signal to internal and external stakeholders that the company has embedded human rights considerations within its operational policies and procedures, and to understand the human rights impacts of the business. It also signals a commitment to respect human rights and to allocate management time and resources to developing and implementing a policy. What should the policy cover? + OPENING STATEMENT That you understand your responsibility as a business to respect human rights. + EMBEDDING HUMAN RIGHTS That you embed the responsibility to respect human rights throughout your business operations. + LEADERSHIP That your leadership team takes a proactive stance on human rights issues. THE + FUNDAMENTALS That you are committed to ensuring the human rights listed on the previous page of this guide within your organisation. + WHISTLE-BLOWING That you have a whistle-blowing policy in place should the need arrive for a stakeholder to report a human rights issue. + REVIEW AND AUDIT That you review the policy regularly and identify Through FuturePlus’ consultancy services we offer comprehensive support including the creation of a bespoke Human Rights policy. 🥂 It’s been an incredibly busy week, which saw both our all team strategy day and our Christmas party. The team went through our plans and goals for 2025 and beyond before celebrating the festive period. We were hosted at the excellent Apricity Restaurant. Where menus are centred around hyper-seasonal, sustainable produce from small-scale farmers and locally foraged ingredients with a zero waste approach to cooking. - #Sustainability #SustainableBusiness #Team
