📊 Encouraging Figures for October Sales! 📊 The The Garden Centre Association’s latest Barometer of Trade (BoT) figures for October 2024 offer promising news for garden centres, with 9 out of 13 categories showing growth compared to October 2023. 🍂 Indoor categories performed particularly well, with food hall/farm shop sales leading at +12.2%, followed by catering at +11.61% and clothing at +9.62%. Categories like houseplants (+8.6%) and gifts (+7.39%) also thrived, along with a positive start for Christmas sales (+2.95%). 📈 👉 https://lnkd.in/eEsA3R6K 💬 CEO Peter Burks noted: “It’s encouraging to see the significant increases in indoor categories, which outweighed the losses in outdoor ones.” Outdoor categories like garden sundries (-6.77%) and furniture & BBQs (-8.96%) saw declines, showing a shift in consumer focus as the colder months approach. For garden centres, this means focusing on high-performing areas like food halls, catering, and gifts to maximise revenue opportunities. As Christmas sales ramp up, now is the time to capitalise on festive shopping trends! How is your garden centre preparing for the holiday rush? Let us know! 🎄👇 #GardenCentre #GCE25 #RetailGrowth #GardenCentreTrends #Houseplants #Christmas #HolidaySales #Catering #FoodHall #Innovation #BusinessGrowth

🌟 Turn Plastic Problems into Footfall Opportunities! ♻️ Plastic plant pots are a staple of gardening, but they can quickly pile up at home or become pollutants. 🌱 Leading brands like Dobbies and B&Q are showing how recycling initiatives can turn a challenge into a customer-attracting opportunity. 💡 ✨ Dobbies Garden Centres has teamed up with elho group | B Corp, offering a pot recycling scheme in 69 centres. Customers can drop off any shape, size, or colour of plastic pot (as long as it's not polystyrene). ✨ B&Q is rolling out recycling stations in over 100 stores to collect old plastic pots and transform them into brand-new planters made entirely from recycled materials! Customers increasingly seek eco-friendly practices, and services like pot recycling show your commitment to making a difference. These initiatives not only reduce waste but also boost footfall, inviting customers to recycle, grab a coffee, and explore your products. 🪴☕ Want to bring this kind of footfall-boosting innovation to your garden centre? Join us 7-8 October 2025 at ExCeL London to discover how initiatives like these can grow your business and attract eco-conscious customers. 🌎✨ #GardenCentre #GCE25 #Sustainability #GreenInitiatives #SustainablePractices #BusinessGrowth #Gardening
