This just in - GFS's groundbreaking new report 🌟Girls Speak: Navigating the Conflicts of Girlhood in 2025 🌟 is hot off the press, and we're taking it to the House of Commons tomorrow! Here's a bit about what makes 'Girls Speak' such a special and unique report: 🌟 We let girls craft our narrative rather than crafting it for them - everything from our topics, our structure and our conclusions all circle back to what girls have said themselves. 🌟 It views girls as experts in their own lives - including the little ones. 🌟 83% of participants were under age 11. 🌟 It does not put age limits on what girls think, feel or experience in their lives. 🌟 It lets girls answer the question, "what do girls want?" Our report serves as an important reminder that it's time to stop silencing girl voices or burying them within classifications of 'child', where gender nuances are lost. It's time to give girls the support they've told us they need, before they reach the crisis of confidence that comes in their tween and teen years. Visit our website to read the report, and find out what YOU can do to help GFS build a world where girls are able to thrive and build #UnstoppableFutures. 👉👉👉 https://lnkd.in/esSX2_Yb #GirlsSpeak #EmpowerGirls #YouthVoices #GirlsRights #GenderEquality #SupportGirls

For girls. For friendship. For society. Charity helping girls build confidence, self-esteem, wellbeing & resilience.
About us
We believe that every girl and young woman has the potential to achieve anything. Our mission is to help them fulfil that potential by providing a supportive and fun place for girls to meet friends, learn more about themselves and grow in confidence. We support volunteers throughout England and Wales to run weekly girls-only groups with a programme of activities that will help girls and young women develop the confidence, self-esteem, emotional wellbeing and resilience they need to be the truest, happiest versions of themselves, no matter what life throws at them. Our groups are… Informal At GFS we provide an informal, unintimidating environment that is accessible to all girls and young women. While sessions do have an outline, they rely less on a standardised structure, and place emphasis on personal development over formal achievement. Non-competitive At their heart, our activities are designed to develop self-esteem; the goals that GFS girls and young women achieve are personal and appropriate to them, and we discourage comparison of status and ability to others. Girl-led We offer girls and young women the opportunity to contribute to planning and delivery of activities based on what they enjoy and the issues they feel are relevant to them. This is great for building confidence and helping girls see themselves as potential leaders. Feminist We are a proudly feminist organisation in that we support and advocate for women’s rights on the ground of the equality of the sexes. We are committed to tackling exclusion and lack of access to opportunities due to gender inequality.

Nowhere is that more true than in the case of GFS Layton Group Leader, Barbara. Barbara has been part of GFS since she was a little girl in 1944 - growing from GFS girl, to volunteer, to Group Leader.
