To celebrate our news on piloting the area of Govanhill for the next phase of the Net Zero Neighbourhood model, 3Ci invited senior leadership from banks, consultancies, engineering firms and the public sector for a guided visit around the Govanhill area by Glasgow City Council! Beginning the day at Glasgow City Chambers, we heard from the Chief Executive Susanne Millar as well as Mary Kerr CMgr MCMI and Gavin Slater on the specific investment opportunity in Govanhill. We then visited the Glasgow Recycling and Renewable Energy Centre (GRREC), which powers 26,000+ homes and has the potential to heat homes and businesses in the area using energy produced from waste, and toured the Govanhill area. Our day concluded with a roundtable hosted at Barclays' state-of-the-art Glasgow campus where Councillor Susan Aitken, Leader of Glasgow City Council and Steve Turner, Director of 3Ci led a fascinating roundtable delving into the specific challenges and opportunities for advancing the Net Zero agenda in city regions. A heartfelt thank you to the whole team at Glasgow City Council for their long-standing commitment to 3Ci's work and to advancing city decarbonisation. A special thank you to Barclays for hosting us for such an informative session! And to all the attendees who joined us for the day.
