PhD student Kirsty Blair is developing educational games to help foster understanding around sustainable livestock systems, with support from a University of Edinburgh Student Experience Grant. The work includes development of an arcade-style Whac-A-Mole game, designed to simulate decision-making in food systems. Players must balance competing priorities – such as sustainability, productivity, and welfare - while managing the impacts of their choices. #Games #ScienceGames #StudentExperience #LivestockSystems #SustainableLivestock https://edin.ac/3ED7llX

Scottish children eat too much sugar and not enough fibre, with sweets, crisps and sugary drinks making up more than one-fifth of their calorie intake, according to the first key study of young people’s diets for 15 years. The findings of a survey of 1700 Scottish children, aged two to 15, should serve as an opportunity for industry, policymakers and others to support children and young people in meeting dietary goals, according to the team behind the research.
