About us
The Grand Opera House is one of the most iconic and popular theatres in the UK and Ireland, and with a loyal and diverse audience base, a strong commitment to bringing the arts to all communities and a well-recognised, much-loved brand, there are a multitude of reasons for working with the Theatre. Since opening its doors to the public for the first time in 1895, this beloved venue has played host to some of the biggest names from the world of entertainment and today presents an outstanding programme of drama, opera, dance, comedy, musicals, and family shows. For many years, the local business community and the Grand Opera House have recognised the importance of mutually beneficial partnerships. Working with the Theatre can help companies achieve their community engagement commitments and corporate social responsibility goals, as well as providing an enticing new way to engage staff or customers, and in some cases directly helping to generate new business. We also have beautiful and diverse spaces for hosting your special event.

Happy 129th Birthday to the Grand Opera House! 🎈 As the official name of the Theatre is Cirque and Grand Opera House, it is only fitting that we celebrate its anniversary with The Acromaniacs, who are dazzling audiences with their acrobatic skills, along with Adam C.Booth, in The Pantomime Adventures of Peter Pan. Happy Birthday to the #NationalLottery – 30 years of Changing Lives! In January 2020, the Grand Opera House closed its doors for a major restoration that was made possible in-part due to a £5.2million contribution from The National Lottery Heritage Fund. The funding was used to restore the Matcham Auditorium, transform the foyer and bar spaces, and update the Theatre’s technical infrastructure, all done with the upmost care to ensure the protection of the building’s unique heritage. This funding also enabled major enhancement of access facilities throughout the Theatre. Thank you to the National Lottery for supporting the Grand Opera House Trust’s vision and helping to make this award-winning restoration project possible.

Thank you to all the participants, facilitators and creative team who made this project possible.
