  • Support that moves with you! When Dot moved into a care home, her family didn’t want her to lose the help and companionship she’d come to value with her Good Life Sorted Helper, Jackie. Instead, following the big move, Jackie has continued to visit Dot weekly—helping her with hospital appointments, arranging errands, and providing much-needed interaction outside of the care home. This ongoing support not only improves Dot’s wellbeing but also gives her family peace of mind. As Dot's daughter Tina says, "having Jackie as a Helper is really good for Mum but also a huge support for me. " At Good Life Sorted, we believe care evolves with life’s changes. Moving into a care home shouldn’t mean losing trusted connections—our Helpers continue to support older adults and their families through every stage of life. https://lnkd.in/egg6SziR

I'm encouraged to see that Werner Vogels's first prediction for 2025 closely aligns with our mission at Good Life Sorted. Our network's helpers are driven by what Werner describes as "a deeper desire to create positive change in the world" and their impact on the lives of those they support. https://lnkd.in/e3-5dc_x

Part two of my series reflecting on how I got to this point in my life. I'm in a role I love, for a company I'm passionate about and a mission I am committed to help achieve. No meaningful journey is without challenges, each one is an opportunity to learn, become more resilient and to focus on the mind what's important to each of us.

  • Whether it’s picking up a skill, diving into a new hobby, or joining a local book club, staying curious can transform how we feel about ourselves and the world around us. For many of the people we support, it’s the simple act of trying something new that sparks fresh conversations, builds friendships, and brings a renewed sense of purpose. Learning doesn’t have to be formal or daunting—it can be as simple as exploring something you’ve always been curious about. So, what's stopping you?!

  • We know that human connection isn’t just important—it’s essential. Loneliness can feel overwhelming, but even small moments of companionship can make a profound difference. Angela, one of our Helpers and a Good Life Sorted Ambassador, brings this belief to life during her weekly visits to Enid in Headcorn. Their trips to the local coffee shop have become moments of laughter, conversation, and meaningful companionship. "Enid enjoys her cappuccino and a chat, and her sense of humour never fails to brighten my day. She reached out to Good Life Sorted for help with household tasks and companionship last November, but she’s become a wonderful companion to me too." Angela’s passion for her role stems from her own experience, "I saw firsthand how much difference a little extra support can make. Now, I’m proud to provide that same help to others—whether it’s through practical assistance or simply sharing good conversation. It’s incredibly rewarding work." Through people like Angela, Good Life Sorted is helping to combat loneliness and foster meaningful connections that enrich lives.

  • The Christmas break offers a special chance to reconnect with loved ones, especially those we may not see as often. Our CEO and Founder, Constantine, shares valuable insights on how to recognise the signs that your ageing parents may need support and how to offer the right help.

I promised myself I’d never write an article with a title like “5 Things to Do…” or “10 Things to Look Out For…” But here we are. It just felt right. Recently, someone asked me, as an accidental “ageing expert”, what to check and ask when visiting elderly parents during the holidays. If you’re planning a visit this holiday season, you might be noticing subtle changes in their wellbeing and wondering how best to support them. Whether your parents are still in the early stages of needing help or are further along, prevention is always the best approach. Here's a practical guide to checking in on their health and happiness without being too controlling or condescending.

  • Loneliness is a crisis amongst older adults in the UK, and with an ageing population, we must do more as a collective to alleviate it. At Good Life Sorted, we’ve seen how meaningful, consistent support can make a profound difference. Thanks to the work of our Helpers, we’ve seen a 41% uplift in overall wellbeing of our customers, and a 30% increase in reporting improved social connections. Change is not only possible—it’s happening.

“It’s hard to remember that I used to have the capacity for friendship” Oof... Reading that hit me hard. Loneliness has been in the spotlight for a number of years now, especially when looking at the older generations. The negative effects are well documented, amongst many other things increasing the risk of heart disease and stroke by c. 30%. We know it's an issue and there are numerous people and organisations out there trying to tackle it. But it was only when I was working through some research we just did Good Life Sorted on the impact our Helpers have on the lives of our customers, that just what this can actually look like hit home so viscerally (I'll save the bragging about how great we are and the huge impact we make for another time). As we get older, loneliness isn't just about losing the supportive community of the friends and family that keep you connected, engaged, and feeling alive rather than just living. It's also about losing the confidence, losing the skills that enable you create and sustain relationships. Loneliness moves from a thing you are feeling, to a state of being. It's brutal, and it feels like a one way street. But it absolutely is not. Our Helpers make a huge difference in supporting people in building their confidence, capacity and capability to regrow their connections with the wider world. And so can everybody else. With the Christmas season looming large in my periphery vision, this feels like a timely reminder to open my eyes to the community around me and make sure to check in with those I know who are more isolated.
