Greater Manchester is on a mission to become one of the globe’s healthiest, cleanest and greenest city-regions 🌍 To achieve this, we need a workforce with the right skills. That’s why some of Greater Manchester’s employers (and champions of careers education in our city-region) came together to host a sustainability-themed Workplace Safari 🐘 Together, Alstom, AutoTrader, Bruntwood, KPMG UK, MBDA, Siemens and Willmott Dixon welcomed students from the Little Lever School, Burnage Academy for Boys and North Chadderton School to the Siemen’s UK headquarters for a day of interactive sessions. Connecting young people and employers is an integral principle of the Greater Manchester Baccalaureate (MBacc), which will open a clear pathway from school to high-quality jobs in our growing economy. Interested in holding your own Workplace Safari or want to collaborate with other organisations? 📍Close to Greater Manchester, in Warrington, is Holcroft Moss. It is an important peat bog habitat which has developed over thousands of years. We want to ensure that new homes and businesses have safeguards in place to avoid harm to this site. 🗣️ The Joint Supplementary Planning Document is a key part of delivering this, and we want your input to help shape it. https://lnkd.in/eTBtRzab

JIFFL® is an online platform and app for part-time recruitment that aims to simplify the process of for jobseekers and employers. It's one the projects being backed by the GMCA's Foundational Economy Innovation Fund, which is providing grants for businesses and organisations working in or with Greater Manchester’s "foundational economy" to trial new ideas and become more resilient. JIFFL offers a more efficient, digital solution, tailored to the fast-moving part-time job market. Part-time work is more prevalent in areas of the foundational economy, like hospitality and retail. The grant awarded by the Foundational Economy Innovation Fund has helped the Manchester-based start-up develop its mobile app, build a brand identity and take the platform to market. Projects awarded funding also receive support from the GM Business Growth Hub. 🗣 "One of the things we're trying to do is to encourage SMEs to try an online service, where previously they would have just relied on the old school way of doing things. So far, the feedback we’ve received has been incredibly positive" says JIFFL co-founder Usman Aziz. Find out more 👇 https://lnkd.in/eyc4EEU3
