Today marks 78 years since India's independence from the UK. In the latest edition of the Transatlantic Post "India special: A 21st Century Superpower?" we focus on what can we learn from India's remarkable growth and leadership in technology as well as the role of the global Indian diaspora. A few highlights:- ➡ India's working age population is one of its greatest assets, a population of 1.44 billion with 65% under 30 and it is currently the fastest growing economy globally ➡ With more than 17.5 million Indians living abroad, "India’s diaspora is bigger and more influential than any in history” and the UN declared this to be the largest diaspora in the world ➡ As a technology leader, India is already future proofing its economy for further growth with rapid digitisation and adoption of hashtag #AI - 57% vs 26-27% in the US and UK ➡ India has set a path to reach net zero by 2070 and energy independence by 2047 leading to a hosting of growth opportunities withing the green economy Read ahead to the Transatlantic Post our monthly newsletter for the full article. Also recommend following Brendan Rogers and India Global Forum for further insights on India's future growth. #India #economicgrowth #FDI #tradeandinvestment #internationalgrowth #UKIndia

From the FT today, The new Labour Government has unsurprisingly announced the Gulf and India as priorities to finalise trade deals The GCC's hashtag #economic growth is expected to rebound to 4.7% in 2025, and India is projected to remain the fastest-growing economy at 6.7% in 2025 (World Bank). For context, UK growth forecasts for 2025 are at 1.5%. Any deal that advances cooperation with both regions is a necessity, not a luxury, to future-proof the UK economy. The real test will be whether negotiations can deliver mutually beneficial, balanced deals given the contrasting growth positions. For the past 6 months at Growth Hub Global we have focused on educating and working with UK companies on potential expansion into both regions. While these markets are challenging to navigate, the potential for growth is immense. Beyond Government Free Trade Agreements, grassroots trade initiatives can significantly support companies entering some of the fastest-growing international markets. Get in touch via LinkedIn or through our website if you'd like to discuss your expansion plans in the GCC and India. #economicgrowth #internationalexpansion #internationalgrowth #growthhubglobal #FDI #trade https://lnkd.in/eZDfJJ6S

Ahead of the UK election, I read through the latest Department for Business and Trade report on UK Foreign Direct Investment. There is a lot of room for the new Government to capitalise on the UK's strengths and innovation especially in the Green Economy and Life Sciences to boost FDI and in turn directly impact their economic growth agenda. If growth does not meet expectations, there is little fiscal slack. A few highlights from the recent UK inward investment report and the positive signs from today's Treasury announcement below:- ➡ The total number of FDI projects is down 6% on 2023 but almost 16% from 5 years ago. A silver lining is the UK's share of Europe's total FDI remains strong and potentially more sustainable longer term. ➡ The US and India are the top source markets for UK FDI and the UK generally has more diversified sources of FDI then the rest of Europe. We can do much more to leverage our strong cultural and historical ties to accelerate diversified investment and contribute to sustainable growth in FDI. ➡ The top sectors for UK FDI projects are (1) software and computer services, (2) financial services and (3) environment, infrastructure & transport. Given global FDI is being driven by the green economy (i.e. renewables, cleantech) today's announcement by the Treasury to speed up green energy projects and unlock critical infrastructure projects in energy and transport is a positive step forward. In an upcoming edition of our Transatlantic Post newsletter, I'll be taking a closer look on UK-India opportunites in the green economy, would love to talk to anyone in my network who is an expert here, do get in touch. cc: Growth Hub Global Hassen Bali Karina Luchinkina Vaiibhav Kapoor

Growth Hub Global participated in the British Chamber of Commerce “Future of Trade” Panel - thank you to British Chambers of Commerce for hosting an insightful session with panelists from Scottish Chambers of Commerce NI Chamber International Chamber of Commerce sharing valuable insights on trade digisation, innovation clusters and trade facilitation. A few points from the discussion to highlight:- ➡ Trade is a key engine of economic growth, how do we reduce friction through digitisation and better leverage the UK’s International networks in particular Chambers of Commerce around the world ➡ Internationalisation for UK companies creates economic resilience and builds sustainability, certain rising markets in the East are harder to enter and require more “handholding” both Government and private sector support are critical to help accelerate the process and this does not always require large amounts of funding, peer led support being one example below ➡ The UK has a rich diaspora of businesses and leaders with origins in growing economies in the Middle East, India and Asia. Their knowledge and insights of these market is still an significantly underutilised resource Further insights will be shared in our next newsletter The Transatlantic Post --> Subscribe a ghglondon.com #FutureofTrade #EconomicGrowth #FDI #EconomicDevelopment

🔙 Earlier this week we sponsored an advisers meet-up with The Entrepreneurs Network and LSE IDEAS which took place in the Shaw Library at The London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE). The event brought together entrepreneurs, policy professionals, supporters and organisations that support business growth to discuss: ⚡ The importance of an interationalisation mindset sooner in the business lifecycle and ways in which to embrace an "entrepreneurship without borders" approach in systems and processes ⚡ Despite increasing protectionism, trade barriers and geo-political tension, how to expand smartly into new markets and de-risk the process rather than retrench ⚡ Are there ways we can better measure geo-political risk in international expansion and account for this more tangibly? In the next edition of the Transatlantic Post, our monthly editorial on innovation and growth, we will explore these ideas and more.
