The A428 Black Cat Scheme where we began our trials of the rapid deployment journey time signs earlier in the year have now moved to using these as ‘business as usual’ for impactful diversion routes. Last weekend they were deployed to provide route information during a full closure of the A428 with a fairly complex diversion to manage. We’re thankful for the support of SKANSKA CONSTRUCTION UK LIMITED and National Highways and their commitment to an excellent customer experience! We developed the sign from concept stage and put it through rigorous trials over a period of 6 months and gained excellent feedback from the public. The traffic management team from HW Martin (Traffic Management) Limited deployed and retrieved the signs from their usual vehicles and all within a few minutes. A throwback to Road Safety Week! Together with HW Martin (Traffic Management) Limited , we visited Glebelands Primary Academy to speak with year 4 students about road signs, road safety, and sustainability. The children had a fantastic time completing puzzles, learning about safe road behaviour, and understanding how to read road signs. We also explored ways to reduce carbon footprints, played an ecology-themed word search, and held a competition to design the best Climate Change logo. Christmas Jumper Day Success! 🎄 This year, the Martin Group of Companies came together to celebrate Christmas Jumper Day on 12th December 2024, raising an incredible £435 for SNaP Youth, a local charity making a real difference to young people aged 10 - 17 in South Normanton. The day was filled with festive fun, including a jumper competition, raffle and bake sale - all for a great cause. 🎅🧁 Congratulations to our raffle winners: First Place - Casey Sly who won a stunning cake decorated by Blackwell Care Home Second Place - Andrew Barlow, who took home a wonderful cake baked by a team member's talented kids (ages 12 and 14!). We're so proud to support SNaP Youth, a charity close to our hearts and local to our HQ. Their work provides safe spaces for young people to meet, grow and thrive - an invaluable resource to our community. We were delighted to contribute to this year's Foodbank Donation with Gillian Graham and the rest of the supply chain in the National Highways SDF Alliance. Commercial Manager Jay Holmes dropped off donations, as did Senior Quantity Surveyor Sam Fettin. The donations will be delivered to Medway Foodbank this afternoon.
