Project Throwback | Bolling Road, Ilkley A client came to us with a plot of land within the Ben Rhydding Conservation area which had a single bungalow positioned on site. They wanted to demolish the bungalow to create space for two detached 3 story, 5 bedroom townhouses. Bolling Road is one of the main areas of activity in Ben Rhydding and many of the buildings retain a great deal of traditional character. The site is centrally located within the conservation area and surrounded by many buildings which make positive contributions to the conservation area, so it was essential that the proposed redevelopment respected the quality and character of those surroundings. A great result for The Spool House which is part of a site wide residential development for Spinning Acres in Headingley. Currently the newest residential property in the scheme which features a mix of 12 one-and-two-bedroom apartments. The Spool House, which has been built by local contractor Dobson Construction Ltd, is the fourth phase of Pickard Properties’ ambitious six-acre regeneration property. Project Completion | Harrogate Golf Club We have been a part of the reconfiguration and refurbishment of the South Façade of Harrogate Golf Club Clubhouse. The brief was to open up both the Dining Room and Lounge spaces with the use of newly implemented large sliding doors which open out onto the refurbished seated terrace area. Solar panels have been added to the roof and the former 'Spike Bar' was reconstructed to create a more welcoming entrance area, as well as a total refurbishment of the gents toilets. WT are pleased to share that Director, Kirby Ellis has been appointed as Principal Designer CDM and Client CDM Assist on an exciting redevelopment of Moor Grange, a historically significant building. Working alongside Developers, Pickard Properties and Contractor, C&AJ Marshall Builders Ltd, Moor Grange will be carefully converted into eight self-contained apartments. Located in the heart of the Far Headingley Conservation Area the team is committed to delivering a project that not only creates beautiful, modern apartments but preserves the historic features of this iconic building that is a key to the heritage of the area. Moor Grange is a Victorian villa dating back to the 19th Century. It has been home to a number of prominent figures over the years, notably Professor Arthur Mayo-Robson the former Professor of Surgery at the Yorkshire College, which later became University of Leeds. The surrounding area of Spinning Acres has recently undergone regeneration, creating a community and home that people can be proud of. The Moor Grange scheme will further add to the area, allowing the site to reclaim its place as part of this thriving neighbourhood. Project Update | Former Rastrick School As the project progress on site, the new build plots at Rastrick will be constructed with an insulated raft foundation and ICF walls. The interlocking insulation blocks are filled with concrete to form the walls of the building, and the polystyrene blocks are kept in place and act as the insulation layer. This allows for a fully enclosed thermal layer to the building, removing any thermal bridging issues where the floor meets the walls, giving a high thermal performance and reducing heating and cooling needs. The speed of the processes is something our client was especially excited about and as we move into winter, construction of the houses will be able to continue without weather interruptions. Thanks to ICF Bondmor for their collaboration throughout the design stage in order for us to minimise waste as much as possible whilst maintaining our architectural design intent.
