At PARKdesigned Architects, we are committed to staying ahead in sustainable architecture. Recently, we hosted an insightful CPD session at our Leeds office, delivered by Donna Seward and Tatiana Parfenie, BA (Hons) M.ISP from Unilin Insulation. The session, From Regulations to RIBA Climate Challenge – Energy Targets & Accounting for Embodied Carbon, provided invaluable knowledge on regulatory compliance, embodied carbon reduction, and the RIBA Climate Challenge 2030. For architects understanding these principles is essential for designing energy-efficient, sustainable buildings. We have summarised the key takeaways in our latest blog post. Read more here: https://lnkd.in/e7BqWJQB A huge thank you to Donna and Tatiana for sharing their expertise. If you are interested in CPD sessions on sustainability and energy efficiency, we highly recommend Unilin Insulation’s resources.

At PARKdesigned Architects, we are proud to be playing a key role in Leeds Pipes, a pioneering district heating network that is helping to reshape the city’s energy landscape. By repurposing heat from the Recycling and Energy Recovery Facility (RERF), the network is cutting carbon emissions and delivering sustainable heating to homes, businesses, and public buildings. Our work has spanned multiple projects, including designing energy centres that serve as crucial hubs for the network. We’ve also contributed to major developments such as the West Yorkshire Playhouse connection and the Aire Valley Leeds Energy Project, further expanding the reach of low-carbon energy solutions. Recently, Leeds Pipes was even featured on Sky TV, bringing national attention to this ground-breaking initiative. Read more about our involvement and the future of district heating in Leeds in our latest blog post: https://lnkd.in/eEAb_bie #Sustainability #LeedsPipes #DistrictHeating #NetZero #Architecture #UrbanEnergy #GreenFuture

At PARKdesigned Architects, we believe that the best business relationships are built not just in meetings, but through shared experiences. Last night, we had the pleasure of hosting clients at the Huddersfield Town vs Birmingham City match. A top-of-the-table clash. We enjoyed first-class hospitality at the White Rose Club, complete with a superb three-course meal, great company, and an insightful chat with Huddersfield Town legend Andy Booth. The match itself was a thrilling contest, with Birmingham City clinching victory thanks to an outstanding goal. It was a fantastic evening that reinforced the value of bringing people together outside of the office. Whether it’s optimising layouts, integrating sustainable solutions, or future-proofing designs, our experience spans a wide range of industries. We pride ourselves on creating spaces that act as true assets to the businesses we work with. We are delighted to share the news of a recent planning appeal success for a bespoke new-build home in the prestigious Roundhay Conservation Area, Leeds. This marks an important achievement for thoughtful, sustainable design in one of the city’s most sought-after locations. A beautifully designed detached family home, was initially refused by Leeds City Council due to concerns over the impact on roadside trees and biodiversity. However, we were confident that the design was both sensitive to the conservation area and in keeping with its character. Working alongside Alistair Flatman, we successfully demonstrated: The design complies with BS5837:2012, with minimal impact on roadside trees. The proposed home aligns with the character and heritage of the area. Biodiversity would be enhanced through additional landscaping and tree planting. Our clients, are thrilled with the outcome, which allows them to proceed with their new home. This decision also sets a positive precedent for combining innovative architectural design with respect for conservation policies. It serves as a reminder that well-considered proposals can overcome even the most complex obstacles in conservation areas. If you are considering a project or require support with planning applications, we would be delighted to assist. Please get in touch to learn more. As 2024 comes to a close, we are excited to share some of the standout moments and achievements that have defined this year: Hebburn Energy Centre – Successfully completed the Paul Younger Energy Centre, showcasing our commitment to sustainable and innovative architecture. Building Safety and Cladding Remediation – Tackled fire safety challenges with several cladding remediation projects, including our largest to date at Wembley. 26-Apartment Scheme in Filey – Submitted a proposal for a contemporary residential development in Filey, bringing thoughtful, high-quality living spaces to the area. Supporting Seagulls in Holbeck – We helped Seagulls a social enterprise relocate and expand its operations. Their work in reusing and recycling paint is inspiring, and we are proud to support their mission. Energy Centre in Leeds – Continued our focus on sustainability with work on a new energy centre in southeast Leeds, enhancing energy efficiency for the community. These achievements are a testament to the dedication and expertise of our team and the trust of our clients. We look forward to carrying this momentum into 2025, creating inspiring, functional, and sustainable spaces.
