Their Highfield project on behalf of Barchester Healthcare has been crowned Best Exterior Design and their Outram Fields project on behalf of Cinnamon Care Collection won the Best Interior Design Award. Michael Irwin, Managing Director at Harris Irwin, said: “Winning these awards is a fabulous achievement for our team, Barchester Healthcare, Cinnamon Care Collection and all associated project stakeholders. It recognises the commitment of our collaborations to deliver exceptional design and build through creativity, innovation, passion and depth of experience in the care sector. The outcome is exceptional care homes that enhance the wellbeing and lives of the residents and staff who live and work in them. “The standard of entries in the prestigious Healthcare Design Awards is always impressive, and this year is no exception, with the bar raised even higher. We are a strong and growing practice and should all be very proud of this remarkable accomplishment. We are well placed to continue to build on our strong foundations and values and we look forward to delivering more award-winning designs in the years to come.” As well as coming away with the awards for Best Exterior Design and Best Interior Design, Harris Irwin are proud to see two more of their designs shortlisted in the other two categories they entered; Quantum Care’s Melwood Grange care home for Best Architectural Design, and Hamberley Neurocare Southampton for Best Primary Care Design Benjamin Garlick, Director at Harris Irwin Architects, was invited to be a judge for the Best Acute Design category. Along with his fellow judges, Ben visited the three shortlisted entries to view the projects in person before making a decision on the winning project. Ben commented: “In addition to our award-winning and shortlisted designs, a further twelve of Harris Irwin’s projects are finalists, making an unrivalled grand total of sixteen entries being recognised by the highly regarded Healthcare Design Awards. This is an amazing outcome for the ongoing success of our practice over the last 12 years and coincides with our rebranding which is an exciting time for us. It reinforces Harris Irwin’s reputation as one of UK’s most experienced and respected care sector architectural practices. “It was a privilege to be a judge for the best acute design category and to have the opportunity to see the outstanding shortlisted entries first hand. “We wish to congratulate all the award winners, finalists and everyone who entered and to offer our thanks to the organisers and judges of the Healthcare Design Awards. It was great to see the completion of the recent refurbishment of Marnel Lodge which included the creation of 4 new ensuite bedrooms, reconfigured staff accommodation, new assisted bathrooms and improved entrance cafe. After 6 months and multiple phases within the live care home, a fantastic project was completed and handed over to Barchester Healthcare. Huge credit goes to WREN CONSTRUCTION LTD and their team who went above and beyond.

We are delighted to reveal our rebrand and new website. At the heart of the rebrand is a focus on the company’s values, experience and heritage and redefining our visual identify to reflect this. It’s about elevating our creative expertise, forward thinking and our unfaltering commitment to delivering exceptional design and client service. Our new logo and colour scheme have been carefully chosen for their timeless appeal and integrity, a reflection on who we are in terms of being knowledgeable, authentic and trustworthy. The natural green embodies a sense of nature that highlights our aim to create sustainable designs and legacies as well as being a nod to the beautiful rural surroundings of our head office on the edge of the Yorkshire Dales. Our new logo features a striking sculpture which sits outside our office with a view through the stunning arched courtyard, creating a symbolic and memorable emblem. Mike Irwin, Director, said: “The launch of our new website and branding follows the success of the last 11 years of practice and heralds many more exciting years to come. It will strengthen Harris Irwin’s standing as one of UK’s most experienced and respected care sector architectural practices. “The look and feel of our new branding exemplify our core values and culture, reinforcing who we are with a fabulous showcase of our inspiring projects, our amazing team and regular news updates.” Ben Garlick, Director, added: “The rebrand has been a fantastic piece of work which has been developed by our in-house marketing and graphic design team. It has enabled us to create an identity that completely reflects who we are, what we stand for and unites the collective strengths of our practice to deliver exceptional and ambitious projects across the care sector.” https://lnkd.in/euDsT7t

With just over two weeks to go until the Healthcare Design Awards, excitement is building for the Best Architectural Design category where Quantum Care’s Melwood Grange care home is shortlisted. We were honoured to create the design for this project which offers residential and dementia care for 73 residents. There is a strong sense of community at Melwood Grange, and the social aspects of the home have been thoughtfully designed to incorporate activity spaces, bistro, lounge, cinema and even a jazz bar/café. The exterior to the care home creates many areas for residents and staff to enjoy the outdoors with places to sit and relax on warmer days. The design benefits from large windows to ensure there is lots of natural light flooding through the rooms. We are looking forward to the Awards’ ceremony on 13th February.
