As our Hart Publishing collection on Investment Migration is going to Press, Madeleine Sumption (University of Oxford), Martijn van den Brink (Universiteit Leiden) and I penned an intro to offer a tour d'horizon of the contributions we collected. The smashing collection unites more than twenty leading experts from JHH Weiler, Kristin Surak and HU Jessurun d'Oliveira to Francesca Strumia, Niovi Vavoula, Odile Ammann, Daniel Sarmiento, Gareth Davies and many others: Elena Basheska, Petra Weingerl, Matjaz Tratnik, SK Lee, Luuk van der Baaren, Hanwei Li, Sarah Ganty, Peter Spiro, Guillermo Íñiguez, Quishi Fu, Vadim Poleshchuk, Miriam Cohen, Vasiliki Apatzidou, Jacquelyn Veraldi, Oskar J. Gstrein, William Worster... A feast for citizenship scholars! The intro is here: https://lnkd.in/ezd6r4Yg Central European University CEU Democracy Institute

📕 A nice thing that will happen in 2025 :) The Concept of Legal Personhood – What the Mind Reveals about Law, with Hart Publishing. In this book, I draw on cognitive linguistics to unpack how the concept of legal personhood is structured and works, spotlighting how imaginative thinking shapes our most essential legal categories. I’ll share some of the core ideas as the time approaches.

📚 Our book is hot from the press! Good start of 2025! Hidden Fallacies in Corporate Law and Financial Regulation: Reframing the Mainstream Narratives If I have not yet spoken too much about this book yet, I must now! It is a truly special piece because of the excellent minds who have contributed to it and challenged our fundamental understanding of corporate, financial and securities law, questioning long-held assumptions that have shaped our field for decades. What makes this book unique is its systematic "deconstruction" of established concepts we often take for granted and even more often forget to critically re-assess them every now and then. I am incredibly proud to have been part of this journey. A huge thank you to the amazing scholars who trusted us to bring this vision to reality - Jennifer Hill, Iris Chiu, Sarah C. Haan, Cherie Metcalf, Ellen Quigley, Nakita Cuttino, Anna Gelpern! I’m also grateful to my two co-editors - Saule Omarova & @Claire A. Hill for their tireless dedication, insightful comments, and unwavering support over the years. Their input has enriched every chapter, and I hope we can reunite for a second volume in the near future! :) Our special thanks go to the great group of colleagues who gathered in New York City in the autumn of 2023 to discuss and comment on our collection of chapter drafts: Dan Awrey (Cornell), Miriam Baer (Brooklyn), June Carbone (University of Minnesota), Peter Conti-Brown (Wharton), Talia Gillis (Columbia), @Patricia McCoy (Boston College), Lev Menand (Columbia), Dana Brakman Reiser (Brooklyn), @Bob Thompson (Georgetown), Rory Van Loo (Boston University), Yesha Yadav (Vanderbilt), and David Zaring (Wharton). Thank you to the publisher and their excellent team - I love working with Hart Publishing, and particularly with Roberta Bassi & Verity Stuart! To my colleagues and peers, I hope you’ll find time to read the book and share your thoughts. I’m already looking forward to hearing your reactions to these fresh perspectives and discussing the assumptions we continue to rely on in corporate and finance law. What long-standing assumptions in corporate law do you think need reexamination? (I am already welcoming thoughts on the second volume) 💡 #CorporateLaw #FinancialRegulation #LegalInnovation #SecuritiesLaw #RegulatoryPolicy #LegalScholarship
