Winter is always a challenging time for the NHS, as demand for services tends to increase significantly with the onset of cold weather and flu. 👇🔬💙 In collaboration with Health Innovation North West Coast, Health Innovation Yorkshire & Humber, Unity Insights, Health Call Solutions and our colleagues at Roche Products, we designed a flu test and treat community pathway which we piloted in locations across Yorkshire and the North West of England over the last two winters. With our heritage of working in the infectious diseases space, we designed a test and treat pathway pilot with a working hypothesis that if patients with flu-like symptoms were diagnosed earlier, and given the appropriate treatment at the right time, this could in turn help to alleviate pressure on the parts of the health system where flu often has the greatest impact, such as general practice and hospital Emergency Departments. There is a growing consensus that rapid diagnostics, deployed in the right setting at the right time, can play an important role in population health, which can in turn relieve pressure on the health system in the short, medium, and longer term. #Healthcare #Winter #Flu #NHS #HealthcareInnovation #Partnerships

Since the introduction of our eMeet & Greet service within one of our Trusts, traffic to the NHS App within their patient population has increased by 47%! (based on April to October values) 💫 So, what does this mean? 💙 For patients: • Instant reassurance via SMS that their referral to specialist care has been received • Clear communication on their care via NHS App notifications • Peace of mind that they can access all future appointment information within the NHS App once one is scheduled 💙 For Trusts: • eMeet & Greet kickstarts a totally digitally enabled outpatient pathway 🚀 • Patients are encouraged to download the NHS App as their central hub for managing appointments - reducing future communication costs and DNAs - through MyHealthCall PEP • Calls to bookings teams are reduced as patients are informed of the receipt of their referral and further notified once an appointment is made If you’d like to learn more about how eMeet & Greet could improve patient experience and increase NHS App usage within your ICS, our team are happy to share: 📧 enquiries@healthcallsolutions.com

The intelligent fallback logic built into our Patient Engagement Portal appointment reminders and notifications is designed to be as cost-saving as possible for the Trusts that use it 💰: 1. Patients receive a free notification via the NHS App first... 2. ...if the appointment is not RSVP'd, then a free email will be sent... 3. ...with SMS only as a final action. We utilise your Trust’s existing Gov.Notify account, so there are no additional charges from us. So far, we’ve found that only 35% of notifications sent via MyHealthCall PEP are SMS, vs. 45% of NHS App notifications – and we expect this percentage to grow with NHS App uptake 📈. Watch this space!

We're delighted to share that in the past year, using MyHealthCall PEP - our Patient Engagement Portal - our Trusts have seen: 💙 2 million free NHS App notifications sent to patients, ensuring that they never miss a reminder about their appointments. 💙 221,000 patients access their secondary care appointment details through the NHS App for the very first time. 💙 643,000 RSVPs, cancellations, or appointment change requests made directly via the NHS App – with no need for extra logins or phone calls to local Trusts! If you’d like to chat about how to improve patient engagement and remove barriers to invaluable appointment information within your Trust, we’d love to hear from you – get in touch at 📧 enquiries@healthcallsolutions.com

An interesting read from the Guardian highlighting the importance, and challenges, of clinical safety assurance: https://zurl.co/rcPY. Our CSO, joe horne has provided some insight on his experience of working with colleagues within the NHS to deliver digital clinical safety assurance: “I work closely with NHS trusts that face a shortage of dedicated Clinical Safety Officer time; I also provide support to suppliers seeking clinical safety assurance to meet regulatory compliance. One recurring challenge I've observed is that clinical safety often plays a secondary role in both the development (DCB0129) and implementation (DCB0160) phases of projects. Ring-fencing time for Clinical Safety Officers can be a challenge due to capacity pressures on the NHS which can leave deployments vulnerable, with limited oversight of potential safety risks and their long-term consequences. While we have mandated standards and requirements in place, it requires resource to continually audit and maintain clinical safety assurance and as a result potentially avoidable risks can become reality. The pressing question is: how do we elevate the standard of clinical safety across the board, ensure consistency among providers, and prevent further financial drain by keeping clinical safety assurance processes within the NHS?" We'd love to hear of your experience with digital clinical safety and its consideration. Do you feel that clinical safety has the appropriate focus and resource?
