✨ SME Spotlight - As our HealthTech SME Internship Programme ends, we would like to shed some light on the incredible work we’ve been able to support these last 8 weeks... This week, the spotlight is on Healthnix. Committed to empowering individuals with chronic conditions to improve their health through an AI-powered "food as medicine" approach, HealthNix offer tailored guidance on managing inflammation and promoting long-term well-being by making informed dietary choices. Anas M. joined the team at HealthNix through our internship programme. Joined by HealthNix COO, Karol Waluszewski, at our Internship Showcase Event, Anas shared the experience he gained through conducting market research and supporting with app design and development during his internship.   “The internship was different to my expectations in a positive light. At HealthNix I had an opportunity to do a broad range of tasks” - Anas M. When asked what the internship has taught him, Anas highlighted 3 key points: ⚫Understanding the early stages of a company and how it is run  ⚫Improving understanding of regulations and capital raising  ⚫Furthering knowledge in building financial models We’re proud to have been able to facilitate this opportunity as part of our HealthTech SME Project, supported by the Mayor of London and the UK Government. It has been a privilege for us to participate in the HealthTech SME internship initiative, organised by Barts Life Sciences and supported by the Mayor of London and the UK Government, aimed at empowering talent in East London. As part of this initiative, we were fortunate to have Anas Muhammad join our team as an intern over the past few months, during which he consistently delivered outstanding results from day one. Last week, we attended a fantastic event where all the interns in the programme showcased their impressive work from this summer. 🚀 Exciting Team Update! 🚀 We’re thrilled to announce that Qiling Chen, PhD has transitioned from part-time to full-time Lead Scientist at Healthnix! Qiling earned her Master's and PhD at Imperial College London, where she focused on gut microbiota and metabolomics studies related to human diseases. She recently completed her postdoctoral research at the The Rowett Institute, University of Aberdeen, concentrating on lipidomics and human ageing. Her interests span gut microbiota, omics studies, and precision medicine. Throughout her academic career, Qiling has a proven track record of drafting research proposals and supporting grant applications for clinical trials. She is also skilled in both wet lab work (e.g. sample processing and measurements) and dry lab work (e.g. multivariate and univariate analysis, and biomarker identification), giving her a comprehensive understanding of clinical medical research. We’re excited to have her expertise on board full-time and look forward to the impact she’ll continue to make! #Healthnix #TeamUpdate

🚀 Exciting Collaboration Announcement! 🚀 We are thrilled to announce our research collaboration with the Self-Care Academic Research Unit (SCARU) at Imperial College London, led by Drs austen el-osta and Mahmoud Al Ammouri. The goal is to investigate the impact of nutrition on chronic pain and long-term conditions affecting musculoskeletal health. The Imperial College London led study will: 1. Investigate attitudes and awareness of community dwelling adults towards nutrition as a viable self-care approach to tackle chronic conditions, particularly osteoarthritis. 2. Identify barriers and enablers for using Food as Medicine and evidence-based approaches to help prevent, delay or alter the trajectory of osteoarthritis symptoms.   This collaboration is an opportunity to advance high-quality and data-driven research in a largely overlooked area given the over-reliance on over-the-counter and prescription medicines to tackle osteoarthritis symptoms. By using public engagement, involvement and participatory approaches, the study will help empower patients and clinicians to make informed dietary choices to promote better self-management of osteoarthritis.   We strongly believe in the potential of digital self-care and Food as Medicine to support millions of adults who may be suffering in silence with this common chronic condition. We are delighted to share that Healthnix won the UCL Tech for Good Competition, a flagship entrepreneurial contest jointly led by the UCL Centre for Digital Innovation (CDI) powered by AWS and the UCL Centre for Sustainability and Realtech Innovation powered by PGIM Real Estate. It was great to see the incredible innovations being worked on by UCL students, alumni and staff addressing healthcare, education, real estate and the climate crisis. Congratulations to NeuroSpeechAI led by Jenny Crinion who took 2nd place, ZNotes led by Zubair Junjunia who took 3rd place and the other finalists!
