We are proud to be one of just five finalists announced as part of the competition to design a new memorial celebrating the life of Queen Elizabeth II. We are part of a team led by architect WilkinsonEyre, alongside artists Lisa Vandy and Fiona Clark. The team also includes Andy Sturgeon, DP9 Limited, Atelier One, Opera, Core Five, The Townscape Consultancy and Speirs Major Light Architecture. The site for the new national Queen Elizabeth II Memorial will include the area of St James’s Park adjacent to The Mall at Marlborough Gate, and land surrounding the pathway down to the lake. Design teams have been asked to create a memorial #masterplan that celebrates Queen Elizabeth II’s extraordinary life of service and provides a space for pause and reflection. The designs will also be assessed against wider criteria, including value for money, #placemaking and visitor experience. Northumbria Health & Care Academy has achieved WELL Gold Certification from the International WELL Building Institute – the first #healthcare building in the UK to do so. Commissioned by Northumbria Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust and Assura plc, the Academy provides a centre of training excellence for nursing, midwifery and allied health professionals. We are proud to share that Fiona Batha, Associate Director within our Environmental Buildings team, has been appointed to the NLA Expert Panel on Retrofit & Conservation. The NLA Expert Panels bring together leading professionals from across the industry to provide thought leadership, advise on programme topics, and respond to new policies. The #Retrofit & #Conservation panel plays a critical role in supporting the New London Agenda, focusing on innovative solutions for sustainable urban development. As part of the panel, Fiona will contribute to shaping policies and research that address the challenges of #retrofitting and preserving London’s existing building stock. This includes adaptive reuse strategies, extending the life of historic structures, and reducing the #carbon footprint of the built environment. We also congratulate Associate Director Carolina Caneva, who will be continuing in her role with the NLA Expert Panel on Planning. Manchester City Council will next week be asked to approve the ambitious plans to transform Holt Town into a new 'woodland town' within the city of #Manchester, following public consultation. As well as thousands of homes – at least 20% of which would be affordable – the area will feature 15 acres of green space, a 1km play street, a lido, and 30,000 sq ft of #commercial space. Our #environmental, #utilities and #sustainability experts have been working on the Holt Town Neighbourhood Development Framework (NDF), with a team lead by architect Studio Egret West and including Deetu, Deloitte, MVRDV, AKT II, Turley and Hatch.
