HOCHTIEF receives multi-million euro order from the University of Staffordshire Consortium will plan, build, finance and operate a new student village HOCHTIEF has been awarded the contract to plan, build, finance and operate a student village for the University of Staffordshire in the UK. The project, which is scheduled for completion in 2026, will see the construction of about 700 new student rooms in cluster blocks and townhouses, as well as a village center that will serve as a social space for students. HOCHTIEF has formed a consortium with Staffordshire University and Plenary to realize the project. The consortium, Staffordshire Campus Living, has commissioned Willmott Dixon to build the new student village. Pinnacle Facilities Management will support the operation of the new accommodations. Legal advice was provided by Osborne Clarke and financial advice was provided by Evolution Infrastructure. The project will also see a further 300 rooms in the university's existing Clarice Cliff Court refurbished to bring all en-suite rooms up to the same high standard. HOCHTIEF has developed a low-energy and low-carbon solution for the village, ensuring that sustainability and carbon reduction are at the heart of design, construction and operation. Ian Prescott, Managing Director of HOCHTIEF PPP Solutions UK and Ireland, said: "We are delighted to have been selected for this prestigious project and look forward to working with the university and consortium partners to realise the vision of the new student village." Professor Martin Jones, Vice-Chancellor and Chief Executive of the University, said: "The Student Village is designed to meet the needs of students. We are pleased that, with the full support of our Board of Governors, we are getting closer to the start of this project, which will make us stand out in the market alongside our academic course offering and exceptional support services. The new student residence will be connected to the existing study, sports and leisure facilities at our main location on Leek Road via a new pedestrian bridge. Together with other exciting developments at the gates of the university, such as the redevelopment of the freight yard and Station Road, we expect the student village to be a great place to live for our students."
