A massive thank you to Jenna and the team at Cash for Kids Northern Ireland and to everyone who donated 👏 Through kindness and generosity, we have received toys and gifts for all ages of children from birth up to 18 years of age! 😃🎁 Kathy Henry our Home Starter Pack Manager: "The gifts are unbelievable and have been welcomed by all of the families who have received them so far. Brian and Paul have been delivering the toys to hundreds of new housing association and Housing Executive tenants moving from homelessness into their new homes this Christmas. We do this as part of our Home Starter Pack service, where people receive basic, but essential household goods, along with food and sanitary items. We're just thrilled to be able to provide Christmas gifts for families who are struggling. This will have such a positive impact."

Good to see NICVA (Northern Ireland Council for Voluntary Action) highlighting what is a major concern for the homelessness sector here in NI.
📢 In case you missed this morning's BBC's Sunday Politics NI discussion on the NICs increase: Our CEO, Celine McStravick, joined Michele Janes (Barnardo's Northern Ireland), Andrew Irvine (East Belfast Mission), and Kellie Armstrong MLA to highlight the devastating impact of the Employer NICs increase: "Hundreds of thousands will be taken from those who need it most." – Michelle Janes "If you increase employer contributions to community organisations, that money comes directly away from community services. There's no customer to pass that rise on to, so we will have to reduce our services," – Andrew Irvine "If we didn't have the voluntary and community sector providing the services that they have, society in NI would struggle, and government would struggle to keep surviving". – Kellie Armstrong MLA Celine shared NICVA's findings, noting that this increase will have a major impact on payroll costs. She highlighted the urgent need for government intervention to prevent service cuts, job losses, and increased pressures on vulnerable communities, and called for fairness: "We don’t want special treatment - we want equal treatment". Our CEO Nicola McCrudden responds to the latest homelessness statistics published by the Department for Communities this morning. "In the run-up to the festive season, it should shock us all that more than 5,300 children are spending Christmas in temporary accommodation. I know that homelessness services who provide accommodation and support will do their very best to make this a happy time and ensure that no one goes without. However, understandably, what families really want is a home of their own." https://lnkd.in/gYdueXDk

Positive to be at the launch of the Northern Ireland Housing Executive Domestic Abuse Action Plan today. 16 actions to drive forward the work of the organisation in responding to domestic abuse and supporting people who are impacted

Our CEO Nicola McCrudden met Minister Lyons along with with Housing leaders today in Stormont to welcome the publication of the Housing Supply Strategy. The ambition is to create 100,000 homes over 15 years, one third of which will be social housing. Endorsing the strategy Nicola said "A whole system and long-term approach to housing supply has the potential to bring about the transformative change needed for current and future generations and, if properly resourced and implemented, this strategy will make a genuine difference to the lives of people experiencing or at risk of homelessness." Homeless Connect reposted this
This year, Homelessness Awareness Week was bigger than ever. As the week closes, I'd like to share my reflection and ask you to think about what you can do differently to bring about collaborative change in the weeks and months ahead. Finally, I'd like to thank the team Homeless Connect for their drive and passion for what we do. HAW is a special time of year in our calendar and it takes a lot of planning and coordination. Special mention to Mark Baillie and thanks Community Foundation Northern Ireland for your support 👏 #HAW24 #homeless #humans #hope
