After a seven-week public consultation on the portion of council tax that goes to your local Fire and Rescue Service, 67% of people who responded favoured an increase, with many advocating for a higher contribution. The Fire Authority debated the responses from the public consultation considering the current financial pressures, weighed against the need to maintain current service delivery and invest in the future. After careful deliberation, the Authority agreed to increase the precept by 5.09% (£4.99 increase a year for Band D properties) for 2025/26. Humberside Fire and Rescue Service has been highly commended in its latest inspection report and rated as “Outstanding” for its understanding and prevention of fires and other risks. Inspectors praised its innovative initiatives, which enhance both community safety and staff development. Over the past 12 months alone, the Service has: 🚒 Responded to 13,000+ incidents 📞 Handled 24,000+ emergency calls 🏡 Carried out 10,000+ home fire safety visits 🏢 Completed 3,000+ business safety audits

There's a couple days left to share your views on the portion of Council Tax that goes to Humberside Fire and Rescue Service. To continue delivering excellent service and preparing for the future, the Service is presenting four options: Option 1: A £2.93 (2.99%) increase for the year – equivalent to 24p per month for a Band D property. Option 2: A £4.99 (5.09%) increase for the year – equivalent to 42p per month for a Band D property. Option 3: No increase. Option 4: Propose an alternative amount. The proposed increases vary by Council Tax band. Many homes in the Humber region fall into lower Council Tax bands, so the proposed increases will be smaller for most residents. Learn more about how this affects different Council Tax bands, what our plans are and share your feedback on our consultation webpage: https://lnkd.in/ev7yu5xP #Consultation #ShareYourViews #Humberside
