Last weekend Rob & Tom had the pleasure of joining the Oyster Yachts Owners' Dinner hosted at the Royal Thames Yacht Club. A special evening catching up with all the news and adventures from those who love spending their time on these beautiful boats. Hearing the latest updates from the Oyster World Rally was especially exciting - having set sail from Antigua earlier this year, they are now arriving in Cape Town after successfully navigating the Panama Canal and visiting the Galapagos Islands and French Polynesia to name but a few of the incredible destinations along the route. With the start of the Vendée Globe last weekend, we look back to Kingfisher— one of the most iconic IMOCA 60 yachts to compete. The Smart Green Shipping FastRig equipped Pacific Grebe has successfully completed her second stage of sailing trials, on passage between Southampton and Greenock, with a period of controlled testing conducted in Lyme Bay. The success of the FastRig trials marks more than just a technological breakthrough - it’s a significant step forward in reducing the environmental impact of global shipping. With shipping responsible for 2-3% of global emissions, solutions that cut fuel consumption are critical. The easily retrofittable FastRig has proven its ability to reduce fuel use and emissions with minimum impact on normal ship and port operations. Proud Moment at the FastRig Winds of Change Event! As Smart Green Shipping Principal Naval Architects and developers of the FastRig concept, it was a privilege to attend the FastRig Winds of Change event at the National Oceanography Centre last week. Seeing the vessel berthed in Southampton after successful first stage of sea trials marked a huge milestone for Humphreys Yacht Design and everyone involved. It was fantastic to showcase HYD's critical role in the project and to hear Tom speak on the panel, sharing insights on the future of wind-assisted propulsion and sustainable shipping solutions. We're excited about the impact FastRig will have on the future of decarbonized maritime transport!

We’re thrilled to announce that the Pacific Grebe has set sail for sailing trials, equipped with the innovative Smart Green Shipping FastRig wind-assisted propulsion system. This marks a significant step forward in the development of the FastRig technology that aims to optimise maritime efficiency and sustainability. The sea trials will be crucial in validating performance and engineering solutions in real-world conditions and builds upon the past 4 months of testing on land at Hunterston. Rob enjoyed racing onboard Richard Hadida's Oyster Yachts 885 Lush, competing in 4 days of racing off Port Adriano, Mallorca in the Oyster Yachts regatta. With close racing and a range of conditions they finished first in class Fantastic to see the Oyster fleet enjoying a superb regatta.
