This week marked HyPride UK's first in-person meeting for 2025 - an opportunity for members and allies to come together, share ideas and explore ways of supporting the LGBTQIA+ community, fostering an inclusive workplace where everyone is encouraged to be their authentic selves. As we celebrate Valentine's Day today and as part of #LGBTQIA+ History Month, it’s also a reminder of the importance of celebrating love in all its forms, and cherishing moments with those we love. 🌈💜 #HyPride #InAHyattWorld #HyattWorldOfCare

As National Apprenticeship Week continues, we’re excited to spotlight another incredible colleague who recently started their apprentice journey. Daniela Faubel, Talent Development Trainer at Hyatt Regency London – The Churchill shares how the course is helping her grow and how she applies the learnings into her role as a trainer. 🔸 What apprenticeship are you doing? I'm doing a Learning and Development apprenticeship, where I’m learning how to design and deliver training programmes. Although my background is in Housekeeping, this apprenticeship is helping me to develop skills in creating learning experiences, understanding how adults learn, and using different tools to support learners. I’m also learning how training can improve employee performance and engagement within the company. 🔸 Has there been a highlight in the course so far, or how do you think this apprenticeship will help your career? I think this apprenticeship will help me grow and develop in my career and give me a fresh view on training needs and delivery. It’s giving me both knowledge and practical experience, which will help me build a strong base to develop a career in Learning & Development or HR. It’s also giving me the chance to grow my experience and maybe work towards a CIPD qualification in the future. #NationalApprenticeshipWeek #InAHyattWorld #CareConnectsUs

As part of National Apprenticeship Week, we're proud to continue highlighting the incredible journey of our apprentices at Hyatt. Today we speak to Stephen Banham, Learning Manager at Park Hyatt London River Thames who shares his journey as an apprentice - on two occasions! 🔸 What apprenticeship have you completed? I have completed not one, but 2 apprenticeships in my career journey! When I left university, I was unsure what I should do or how to start my career. It was then that I took the opportunity to take an apprenticeship I saw advertised in Digital Marketing which led to a successful 7 years working in Marketing before I decided to move on and do something that was close to my heart, to help others to find their direction and grow in confidence and ability. I took the opportunity at the age of 30 to finally embark on this new journey (you’re never too old to start something new!) and started my Learning & Development apprenticeship. I have never been happier since making that decision! 🔸 How do you think these apprenticeships have helped you in your career? An apprenticeship is a very special and unique way to both learn and further your career at the same time. Whether it was the opportunity to receive mentorship from an experienced leader or the chance to learn whilst still supporting my family I loved every moment. It is without doubt that my career would have been less impactful without this apprenticeship. The development opportunities and mentorship were incredibly powerful to me both personally and professionally. I know that without that early guidance I would not have developed as quickly in my career, and I will always be thankful for the course and my mentor that changed my life for the better. #NationalApprenticeshipWeek #InAHyattWorld #CareConnectsUs

🎉 National Apprenticeship Week 2025 is here, and at Hyatt UK & I, we're excited to celebrate the incredible talent and hard work of our apprentices. Matthew Wood is currently doing his level 2 Commis Chef Apprenticeship at University College Birmingham and gaining experience in the Culinary team at Hyatt Regency Birmingham . He shares with us a little more about his journey as an apprentice. 🔸 What apprenticeship are you currently completing, and why did you choose to pursue this path? I am completing the level 2 Commis Chef Apprenticeship at University College Birmingham. I have always enjoyed cooking and experimenting with food, and so I was keen to explore opportunities to learn whilst taking a qualification. I was really fortunate to complete work experience in the kitchen with Hyatt Regency Birmingham and was really inspired by all of the chefs, the hotel and what I learnt. Whilst on work experience, an apprenticeship was mentioned to me and it sounded like a great option. 🔸 Was there a particular highlight during your apprenticeship? There are so many highlights of my apprenticeship, my particular favourite is being part of a team and learning from so many experienced chefs at Hyatt Regency Birmingham and UCB. Once I’ve completed my level 2 apprenticeship, I’m keen to progress to level 3. Our apprentices are not only gaining valuable skills but also shaping the future of our industry. From hands-on experience to career development, we're proud to support and nurture the next generation of leaders at Hyatt. #NationalApprenticeshipWeek #InAHyattWorld #HyattCareers

At Hyatt, there’s a home for every stage of your career. We nurture curiosity and roles with us will help you learn new skills that support your personal and professional development. Here, doors are meant to be opened and horizons expanded. Today we catch up with Jad Lian, Marketing Manager at Andaz London Liverpool Street who tells us about his passion for hospitality and specifically hotel marketing. 🔸 What inspired you to pursue a career in marketing, and how did you get started in the hospitality industry? My passion for hospitality started at 18, while working in a small family hotel in Beirut. This led me to pursue a degree in Hospitality Management. 23 years and numerous roles later, from Chef Concierge Clefs d’Or to Front Office Manager, to now Marketing Manager, my passion remains as strong as ever. Four years ago, I discovered my niche in marketing, where I thrive on crafting campaigns and guest experiences that "wow" and create lasting memories. After five years with Hyatt, I wholeheartedly encourage anyone to consider a career in hospitality. It's a rewarding field that opens doors and fosters lifelong friendships. We're always looking for talented colleagues at Andaz London. For example, we currently have an exciting opportunity for a Director of F&B in our team. You can check this role and other job opportunities on our careers website here: https://lnkd.in/g7SsKuhy 🔸 What marketing trends do you find most exciting in the hospitality sector right now? Marketing in the hospitality sector is shifting from selling rooms to selling experiences. Hotels are collaborating with local businesses to offer unique packages that immerse guests in the local culture, such as culinary tours, art workshops, or outdoor adventures. Storytelling is key to the success of these initiatives, fostering deeper connections with guests. 🔸 What has been your proudest achievement as a marketing professional? One of my proudest moments was being recognized for my work and appointed Marketing Manager at Andaz London. I'm deeply grateful for the trust placed in me to lead such an incredible historical building with so much charm and history, overseeing the marketing campaigns for five restaurants and bringing the Andaz lifestyle brand to life. I'm also immensely thankful for the many colleagues and mentors who believed in me and encouraged me to reach my full potential. 🔸 Can you share an interesting fact about yourself that most people wouldn’t know? In 2008, I spent a year backpacking through 30 countries – an experience that truly broadened my horizons, changed my views on everything. And, perhaps surprisingly, I can order a meal in six languages: Arabic, French, English, Finnish, Swedish, and Portuguese. #CareConnectsUs #InAHyattWorld

LGBTQIA+ Month has officially kicked off in the UK, and we are thrilled to welcome Mélissa Brette Ogée, Director of Human Resources at Park Hyatt London River Thames, as the Chair of HyPride UK. Melissa will guide the chapter in its mission to create an inclusive environment based on equality where our LGBTQIA+ community and their allies can connect, educate and inspire one another. As part of this celebration, Melissa shared her HyPride journey and what excites her most about the future. 🔹 When did you join HyPride and why? I first joined HyPride UK when it was created in 2017, and was inspired by the colleagues I had the privileged to work with. The queer community gave me an incredible sense of belonging and understanding, and joining HyPride allowed me to extend that feeling into the workplace. I feel privileged to live my true values at work and give back to a community that has supported me so much. I look forward to working alongside our Co-Chair Heike Becker and our chapter’s Pillar leads, Henry V. and Jad Lian, focusing on Awareness, Development, and Networking. 🔹 What will you bring to the chapter? My energy and passion! I hope to contribute to creating a more inclusive world by amplifying voices, building connections, and fostering care and support within the community. Strengthening links across EAME chapters and collaborating with others inspiring groups like we did with myGwork - LGBTQ+ Business Community. 🔹 Favorite quote from a LGBTQIA+ champion? “Whatever platform you have, use it.” These words from Linda Riley during a speech at a Lesbian Visibility Week event have stayed with me. She has done incredible work to amplify visibility for the lesbian, bi, and trans communities, and her dedication to creating meaningful change continues to inspire me. 🔹 What excites you most about the future? Shaping a world where everyone feels comfortable ‘Coming In’ - stepping into their true selves (instead of ‘coming out’). We all belong. We are currently recruiting for a variety of roles across the region, and this is a great opportunity to join a team that is passionate about diversity, equity and inclusion and is a mosaic of cultures, ethnicities, genders, ages, abilities and identities. As we usher in the Lunar New Year, a time of renewal, hope and new beginnings, we also take a moment to reflect on the incredible talent within our team. Tony Truong, Head Chef at Chinese Cricket Club at Hyatt Regency London Blackfriars, shares about his journey as a chef, his favourite dishes on the menu and how he celebrates Lunar New Year. ✨ Which of the dishes at Chinese Cricket Club is particularly special to you? One dish that holds a special place in my heart is the Silken Tofu with XO Sauce. It is my grandchildren's favorite, and their love for it inspires me to share this special dish with our guests at Chinese Cricket Club. It's a dish that combines bold flavors with a comforting touch, just like how food brings people together in my family. ✨ How do you usually celebrate Lunar New Year? Lunar New Year is one of the most important days of the year for me. It's about family, friends, and reunion. I always spend the day in the kitchen where I work because it is the busiest time of the year, and I enjoy celebrating the festivities with the diners at my restaurant. After the restaurant closes, I go home immediately to continue the celebration with my own family. It’s a meaningful way to balance work and personal traditions. ✨ And interesting fact about Chinese cuisine Chinese cuisine, especially Cantonese cuisine, is deeply rooted in seasonality and the philosophy of healthy cooking with minimal seasoning to let the ingredients shine. I am a healthy eater myself and strive to bring this philosophy to the diners at Chinese Cricket Club, offering them dishes that are both flavourful and nourishing. ✨ Career journey: What inspired you to become a chef, and how did you specialize in Chinese cuisine? I have always loved cooking since I was young, but an interesting fact about my journey is that I actually started as a kitchen porter in a Chinese restaurant. Watching the chefs in action every day inspired me and sparked my passion for cooking. It motivated me to change my career path and become a chef specializing in Chinese cuisine. It has been a rewarding journey ever since. #LunarNewYear #InAHyattWorld #CareConnectsUs
