About us

The International Concussion and Head Injury Research Foundation (ICHIRF) is a UK-based initiative set up to carry out extensive, independent research on retired sportsmen and women - Concussion in Sport. The study will investigate the possible long-term effects of concussion in impact sports. Concussion in Sport is not the only study interested in this subject and, to ensure that our research funding is optimised, the Foundation is collaborating with other research centres in Australia, Switzerland and the USA. The other centres already have well established concussion research projects in progress and Concussion in Sport is using their extensive experience to shape our own research. ICHIRF's research requires volunteers from all sports to participate in the project, as well as individuals who have never been concussed to act as the control group. We need individuals who are prepared to complete an online questionnaire annually, and who might be willing to undergo 1 day of screening, if selected for this detailed medical assessment.
