An evening of traditional songs and festive cheer brought the congregation together at our eagerly-awaited annual Christmas Carols by Candlelight service last night 🎼🎄🕯️ In association with our friends at Lloyd's Choir and the Worshipful Company of Insurers, we also heard readings from Michael Howard, Karl Jarvis and Dame Susan Langley. Members of our Representatives Committee and our Young Members Committee were on hand throughout the evening to lend support to the running of the event. Many thanks to all who attended. ⚜️⚔️🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿 What do medieval knights, Sir Edmund Hillary, ‘Posh & Becks’, and Meghan Markle have in common…? Their activities have all been brought to the attention of the heralds working in the storied halls of the College of Arms - for good reasons and for bad! These were among the tales our members were regaled with during our private evening tour of the College of Arms, superbly hosted by the Rouge Croix Pursuivant, Thomas Johnston. We heard about the history of heraldry, explored the beautifully-illustrated archives- including the original arms granted to the Chartered Insurance Institute, the Worshipful Company of Insurers, and Lloyd's - and enjoyed wine and supper in good company! Many thanks to all who came, and we are looking forward to the second tour next week.
