UK city walking tours 👣 Social Enterprise 👣 We train & support those affected by homelessness to be tour guides
About us
👣We're growing! We are a UK based social enterprise who are doing tourism differently. Our aim is to create a positive and sustainable social impact for destinations, communities and people. We run walking tours in Glasgow, Edinburgh, Scottish Borders, York, Cardiff and Manchester. We are expanding globally and we'd love to talk about how we could work together in your city. We work with people impacted by homelessness to support them into positive & meaningful opportunities. Our training provides transferable skills like confidence building, public speaking, storytelling & customer service. 👱♂️Our guides Many go onto our full guide training. Each researches, designs &n plans their tour. Guides are paid the living wage & enjoy theming their tours around their own interests as well as the opportunity to tell their story & break down stigmas around homelessness, the causes & consequences. 👩💻Businesses We work closely with charities & support services to welcome people into our community. We benefit from brilliant relationships with businesses who help us by offering training, tours and visits, sponsorship and connections. We also have amazing support from hotels in our cities, who buy tours to gift to guests. 🧑🤝🧑You can help Do book one of our tours! Or pay it forward and gift a tour to someone who couldn't afford it. This is brilliant for those new to the city & deserve a friendly welcome. Businesses can help us with spaces for training or events, support for partnership campaigns, buying tours for team events. Hotels and conference centres -we also collect leftovers from events such as food & drinks, stationery & merchandise & put them to good use to support your sustainability efforts. 📰 Press We work with national & regional press and love sharing our stories - contact news@invisible-cities.org. Our guides enjoy working on media opportunities & have experience & confidence working with journalists inc broadcast media.

We know, we've posted a lot about fundraising recently but this is why. 💚 Communities make the world go round 💚 It's the individuals in businesses that champion giving 💚 We want to give our guides the best possible chances because they are truly incredible 💚 If we don't keep shouting, we can't help to end homelessness Today we want to share some highlights from the recent Travolution.com awards - a perfect example of people seeing the work we do and being incredibly generous in their support. If you can help us fundraise and support our 2025 efforts to help more people out of homelessness and into positive employment, we will love you even more than we already do. https://lnkd.in/ehP5yPDc Please do spread the word too - it's equally as important. #darkerdaysbrighterfutures #travolution #traveltrade #socialenterprise #homelessness #fundraising

This week we were joined by Sky News in Manchester to film a guide training session and interview our team about what we do and why. We are so determined that next year we will be able to help more and more people looking for positive and meaningful routes out of homelessness - and becoming an Invisible Cities walking tour guide can be an incredible opportunity. For people who love telling stories, want to grow their confidence and share the history of their city and their own experiences, we offer an opportunity that's quite unique. Showcasing that with someone like Sky News is just unbelievable for us and helps us to find partners, supporters and guides. A huge thank you to Mercure Manchester Piccadilly Hotel for hosting us in their stunning Garden View Suite. They're all decked out for Christmas and the whole hotel looks absolutely beautiful. They've even won a prestigious Conference & Events award for their services at the hotel. #skynews #guidetraining #doingtourismdifferently #manchester #mercuremanchester

Did you know that this Christmas you can gift a tour to a colleague, friend or loved one? Last year hundreds of people chose our vouchers to give to someone, or chose something from our shop like this map of Nic's Manchester tour, our card game or poetry book. As we head into the festive season, think about the people you know who are impossible to buy for. And, gifting a tour can be a life changing experience for people, communities, and our guides for as little as £10.
