💫 💙 Happy New Year 💙 💫 As we step into 2025, we wanted to take a moment to reflect on the incredible impact the insurance industry has made over the past 12 months. Because of your dedication, kindness and passion, we: - Had the most successful Insurance Day for Dementia EVER - raising over £242,000 to fund vital dementia research - have now created over 18,000 Dementia Friends in the industry - Are now incredibly close to hitting our initial Insurance United Against Dementia fundraising £10 million goal - Have seen colleagues unite to take on many challenges such as the Insure Trek across the Pyrenees, epic cross country cycles and many more - Were recognised by the industry as winners of the inaugural Insurance Collaboration Award at the Insurance Post British Insurance Awards and, most importantly, we have taken incredible steps forwards this year with not one, but two disease-modifying treatments being approved for safe use in the UK. This means we are one step closer to a world where dementia no longer devastates lives. This has been possible with thanks to people like YOU. Looking ahead to 2025, we are filled with hope and determination to achieve even more together 💙 Thank you to every single person and firm in the industry for playing an important part in our journey so far here at Alzheimer's Society. What an incredible afternoon last week at Wembley Stadium for our annual Pitch Day, thanks to the Alzheimer's Society long-standing charity partnership with The Football Association.   Teams from Arch Insurance International, Rothesay, NFP, an Aon company and friends from outside the Insurance industry at Mail Metro Media came together to play the beautiful game on the iconic pitch, all giving a stellar performance.  These memories should be unforgettable. But for those living with dementia, this isn’t the case, because 1 in 3 people born today will go on to develop it in their lifetime. Over 135 industry professionals joined us online, and that number is still going up as some businesses streamed the Lunch and Learn in meeting rooms for colleagues to physically come together to watch. The session saw Dr Richard Oakley, Associate Director of Research and Innovation at Alzheimer’s Society, detail exciting recent developments in the dementia landscape as well as looking forward to what’s next. He was also joined by David Carey and Julie Godley who bravely shared their own personal experiences of supporting a loved one with dementia 💙 What’s more, Z Zurich Foundation are very kindly donating £5 for every person that joined us online for the session, as well as for those taking part in volunteering today, up to the value of £10,000. This is in addition to the incredible £100,000 match funding they are providing for all fundraising and donations made towards the day 💙 we are so grateful for their generous support.
