📣 𝗪𝗶𝗹𝗹 𝗛𝗮𝘁𝗳𝗶𝗲𝗹𝗱 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗺𝗼𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 📣 I can still remember the day when Will's dad, Des, came to meet with me at our shoebox office in Whitehall Riverside back in Leeds in 2019. Will was still fully into his professional football career at the time... but… as any good Dad would… Des was looking to help prepare his son for a career beyond professional sport. For any of you that know Will, you know he’s got a heart of gold and is always 100% open and honest, even when it is to his own detriment… So, you can imagine my thoughts when he openly confessed to never having sent an email before… pretty good going given he was in his mid-20s at the time! Having known will for a (very) long time, I knew that, despite his professional qualities being somewhat ‘lacking’... he definitely had some skills that made me confident he had the potential to make recruitment a success. Will went through our standard internal recruitment process and at the final stage delivered his presentation… I’ll leave Ben to share his feedback from that day (offline), but I thought it was pretty good considering he had only been using Microsoft Office for a couple of weeks! Needless to say – we decided we saw potential in Will and offered him the job. Roll the clock forward 5 years and Will sits at Number 3 in our 2024 Leaderboard and number 7 (out of ~100) in JBAndrews All Time Revenue! Incredible achievements in themselves, but all the more impressive given he is still playing semi-pro football for Darlington and in fact, 18 months of the 5 years were spent full-time with AFC Fylde where he would drive a couple of hours each way, do a full day of training, and then do a full day of recruitment! Never-mind the two young boys at home... Far more important than his sales performance, Will has gone from being someone we took a chance on initially, to someone whose qualities we now look for when we interview all new JBA employees. 𝙃𝙚'𝙨 𝙣𝙖𝙩𝙪𝙧𝙖𝙡𝙡𝙮 𝙘𝙤𝙢𝙥𝙚𝙩𝙞𝙩𝙞𝙫𝙚: No doubt a knock-on effect of playing professional sports, he is always looking to win. 𝙃𝙚 𝙞𝙨 𝙖𝙡𝙬𝙖𝙮𝙨 𝙬𝙞𝙡𝙡𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙩𝙤 𝙡𝙞𝙨𝙩𝙚𝙣: Despite his success, Will remains one of the most humble members of our team, and comes into each day eager to learn. 𝙃𝙚 𝙞𝙨 𝙡𝙤𝙮𝙖𝙡: Plenty of people have tapped him on the shoulder over the years, but he has always repaid our faith in him with loyalty to JBA. 𝙃𝙚 𝙞𝙨 𝙚𝙭𝙩𝙧𝙚𝙢𝙚𝙡𝙮 𝙝𝙖𝙧𝙙 𝙬𝙤𝙧𝙠𝙞𝙣𝙜: Like any good box-to-box midfielder, Will is more than happy to roll up his sleeves and put in the hard yards. A special shoutout has to go to Will’s direct manager, Paul Butcher, for helping Will navigate the world of emails and Outlook 365 back in 2019. Paul is the definition of a servant-leader, but that is a post for another day! Congratulations Will… Des, I owe you a beer!
