📷 A month ago I put a post out looking for any out-of-warranty broken, malfunctioning or obsolete #cameratraps that would otherwise just become e-waste, for a scientific study into removal and vandalism of cameras traps in urban areas. The response has been incredible! A massive thank you to those who have donated: Robin Whytock and team at Okala, Ely Blyth at SRUC, Yvonne Brown at A9 CONSULTING LIMITED, Katie Luxmoore at LUC, Laura Dawson at Kilchoan Melfort Trust, and Melanie Findlay MCIEEM and Roger Ingledew at Findlay Ecology Services, and most recently Gareth Ventress MCIEEM of Forestry and Land Scotland who sent us 29 and said "after more than 10 years using camera traps we’d built up quite a collection of old and broken ones". 📦 Believe it or not, we are still seeking more in order to maximize replication, so if you do have any just gathering dust, please message me. We can refund postage if pre-agreed, or pick up in the Edinburgh area. Even one defunct camera trap is valuable to us as we plan to cluster them by model and it may just help to complete one more group.

We got our first monitoring buoy in place supplied by SoftSeaweed! We will be able to continuously collect data on salinity, Lux and temperature. This information will feed into the bigger BBSRC funded project ‘Biofouling prediction in seaweed aquaculture’. 🌿

We are delighted to be offering another collaborative, fully funded PhD opportunity!

An exciting new opportunity for the right person at Kilchoan and Melfort trust. We are looking for a Stockperson/estate hand. This role involves looking after a small fold of highland cattle and sheep, as well as doing work around the estate, such as path maintenance, deer fence surveys, removal of scrub in plantation, among other things. It's a very diverse roll, will need a reasonable amount of fitness, willingness to work outdoors in all weathers. OysterGro is being used as part of a Multitrophic Aquaculture System designed for improved biodiversity, with OysterGro and seaweed growing on the same site, thus allowing more product variety per acre!
