On Thursday, we had the opportunity to host a joint lecture with Imperial College London’s Institute for Security Science and Technology. Our panelists, Dr. Jack McDonald and Dr. William Proud, provided us with enlightening discussions on military ethics and shock physics respectively, complementing each Department’s expertise to provide the audience with a more holistic understanding of conflict and security. A heartfelt thank you to everyone who made this event possible. It was an enriching experience that will inspire further discussions and collaborations. After a successful event back in February, we had the pleasure of hosting Karve International again last Thursday for an exclusive speaker event, followed by a networking session. Building on the past event’s focus on defence entrepreneurship and scaling a defence start-up, Karve International CEO Lloyd Fallesen stressed the importance of cooperation between the public and private sectors to ensure a strong defence industrial base, especially when it comes to the leveraging and safe use of emerging technologies. This led to a fascinating debate on the future of national security and what aspiring defence and security professionals can do about it. We would like to thank everyone at Karve International for their generosity, approachability and wisdom, as well as everyone who worked hard to make this event a success.
