Registered charity working across Lancashire to support LGBTQ+ people with their mental health and wellbeing

About us

Lancashire LGBT is the pan-Lancashire organisation supporting LGBTQ+ people. Established since 2009, our charity aim is for LGBTQ+ people (and their family members and carers), to be happier, healthier and better connected. Our core work is focused on improving physical and mental health and well-being and reducing social isolation for LGBTQ+ people. Our vision is to ensure that Lancashire is a place where, regardless of sexual orientation or gender identity, all are able to be safe, fully participate in all aspects of community life, feel a sense of pride and belonging and know that their contribution is celebrated, shared and inspiring to others.

This morning, we hosted our third More Than HR event with Six Connections, bringing together HR Leaders to learn, share, and connect. Focused on Equality, Diversity & Inclusion, this year’s series goes beyond the usual to deliver actionable strategies for creating inclusive workplace cultures. With insights from Dave Scholes of Six Connections, Dr Lewis Turner of Lancashire LGBT and Head of HR Consultancy, Gabriela Hammond, we explored building openness, honesty, and communication in the workplace. Thank you to all our delegates for making this event such a success! 🙌 #HRLeaders #DiversityAndInclusion #InclusiveWorkplace

  • Last year podcasters Aunt Nell came to Preston to facilitate a workshop with our local LGBTQ+ community for Queer Britain. You can now listen to their wonderful podcast which platforms some of the local queer stories shared during this workshop. Episode 2 is all about the North West and Lancashire! Here is a description for the episode: "The northwest of England is famous for progressive thinking, from women’s liberation to power for the working classes. In this episode, Tash meets some of the folks who are bringing this forward-thinking towards faith and spirituality. From Adelaide Harris and the pioneering church of St James and Emmanuel in Didsbury Village, to Saha (Surabhi Kandaswamy), a trans woman who moved to the UK from Southern India and feels connected to her ancestry and queerness through the birds, butterflies and old ruins found in Williamson Park, Lancaster. Their powerful ways of thinking about the history of faith and spirituality offer a way to explore the queer future" Special thanks to Didier Muller for organising the workshop https://lnkd.in/em4AkAJ2

  • This time last year, we hosted QUEER BRITAIN: the national LGBTQ+ museum at the Lancashire Archives in Preston with the Harris Museum. This visit was part of a series of visits to LGBTQ+ communities across the country, where local LGBTQ+ people were welcomed into arts and heritage institutions by Queer Britain to share local queer histories, and contribute to discussions of LGBTQ+ inclusion in arts and cultural spaces. It was an exercise in a living queer archive. This week Queer Britain have published the document which emerged out of these conversations. It is called the "Amplifying LGBTQ+ Voices Toolkit" and you can read it on our website 🔗 https://lnkd.in/eF6icmvS
