This project speculates how landscapes can be regenerated and offer new opportunities and new lives in light of sea level rise due to #climatechange. It envisions transforming the flood-prone area into a thriving, resilient, and nature-centric community by 2080. The project seeks to bring together a stronger symbiosis between human activity and ecological preservation, leveraging nature-based solutions to enhance biodiversity and climate resilience to sea level rising. Fairbourne’s ecological strategy focuses on restoring and enhancing local biodiversity through key interventions such as oyster reefs, seagrass meadows, dune restoration, and salt marsh reconnection. The restored dunes serve as natural barriers against storm surges, supporting diverse plant species and attracting pollinators and birds. Reconnecting salt marshes with the natural flow of brackish water creates a sponge-like system that supports a variety of plant and animal species while mitigating flood risks. We are delighted to hear about Lewys promotion and hope that his decision to change careers can inspire others as well. #landscapearchitecture #llandscapearchitecturestudent #landscape #architect
We are delighted that our valued colleague Lewys Taylor has been rewarded for all his amazing work by being promoted to Landscape Architect. Lewys has been with practice for the past 18 months and in that time he has become an integral part of the Camlins team. Originally destined to be an architect, Lewys decided instead to follow a passion for landscapes ignited during the Covid pandemic and is currently studying for his landscape architecture masters at Birmingham City University. Lewys is dedicated, trustworthy and hugely talented and we're really excited to see his career flourish here at Camlins. #promotion #landscape #architecture #shrewsbury

People from around the world have joined in Birmingham for the hashtag #UNhabitat #urbanthinkerscampus to discuss an International Landscape Convention. #landscape #land #landscapearchitecture #everydayplaces Kathryn Moore
A “unified global goal for land use” can help reverse the devastating impacts of climate change, as long as agreement is found quickly, according to landscape experts attending a recent conference hosted by BCU. Event organiser Kathryn Moore, Professor of Landscape Architecture at BCU, told delegates at the Urban Thinkers Campus event that “the planet is facing an environmental crisis” that needs addressing rapidly. The conference brought together experts from around the world to discuss how the challenges facing the planet could be addressed by rethinking land use and land use policy. They also explored revolutionary ideas for land use and the policy drivers developed by the West Midlands National Park Lab, an international think-tank for integrated landscape-led visioning and development that’s based at BCU. Is there a more sustainable way of burying our loved ones rather than constantly building more #cemetries in the countryside forever? Could we re-imagine what a cemetery is and challenge the current traditions to create a more sustainable model that can not only be re-used but also create better urban landscapes? New #Broadmarsh - Park and Burial ground. A New Cemetery Model for the 21st Centuary is a project by Helen Wildman which explore these issues as well the duality of life and death both as important parts of living. #burialgrounds #sustainability #lifeanddeath #landscapearchitecture #landscapearchitecturestudent #landscape #architecture #ecologies
