The 2025 Vision Scotland education programme has arrived! I couldn’t be more excited (really, not just saying it for LinkedIn) to unveil this years offering. It’s bigger and better than ever before with all-new talks from Consultant Ophthalmologists and other experts in their respective fields. Our 2025 programme has been built through feedback from the Scottish Optom community, we’ve expanded it to provide talks for IP Optoms, Dispensing Opticians and practice staff. A wide variety of formats are available to keep us on our toes and ‘event series’ so you can take deep dives into each sub-speciality, all the time building on the talks that came before. The Vision Scotland Christmas party on Saturday lived up to expectations. Norton Park Hotel, Spa & Manor House did a great job of looking after us (Even very patient and polite when telling me that dancing on tables is not allowed). The food was excellent and as always the company even better. To choose to spend time with the people you work with is a real gift. Long may it continue. A very special post for a very special man. Mr Jeff Mason has officially retired! We’ve had the pleasure of Jeff’s expertise, kindness and friendship for the last 2 years in the Vision Scotland Galashiels clinic. This absolute gent of a human has supported patients and team mates throughout, contributing to the wonderful, ever increasing family of Vision Scotland. Not only a fantastic optometrist, Jeff is also a nifty van driver. He has supported our West Highland Way fundraising event for the last two years by driving the infamous mini bus (and managed not to crash, unlike Louise Thomson) 💥 and we’re delighted that he will continue to support this cause in 2025. Jeff we’re genuinely honoured that you finished your career with us. A massive thank you to Alcon for training me in ophthalmology, diving deep into the world of eye care and vision health! 👀✨ Coming from a non-medical background, this was a new and exciting challenge for me. The learning curve was steep, but the journey has been incredibly rewarding. From understanding medical terminology to mastering the technical aspects of eye exams and diagnostics, I’ve gained valuable insights into this fascinating field. I’m grateful for the opportunity to expand my knowledge and skill set, and I’m eager to continue growing in this new direction. I look forward to applying what I’ve learned in my role and making an impact in the field of eye care. A big thank you to the team at Vision Scotland who have supported me along the way.
