🆕 REPORT: Our monthly gauge of confidence levels among UK businesses Business confidence rows back from summer highs but trading prospects increase. Senior Economist Hann-Ju Ho says, “In the last few months overall confidence has fallen incrementally, and in December the trend continued as it fell by 2 points to 39%. While there hasn’t been any significant one-month change, confidence has gradually drifted from the summer’s highs. The key difference in this month’s results is that the fall in confidence is driven by firms’ own trading prospects which have proven to be resilient over the last quarter. There was, however, more positivity regarding the wider economy and, going into 2025, this offers some hope if companies continue to feel confident about the economy." Do you have international customers paying by debit or credit card? 💱 If so, it’s time to understand Dynamic Currency Conversion (DCC) and how it benefits both your customers and your business. Here are 5 key things to know: 1️⃣ What is DCC? Dynamic Currency Conversion (DCC) allows your customers to pay for goods and services in their home currency. For example: A US customer visiting the UK is presented with two payment options on the card reader or point of sale screen at checkout – one amount in GBP and another amount in USD. The customer can choose which currency they prefer. 2️⃣ Why is DCC important for customers? When travelling abroad, many customers use their debit or credit cards instead of cash or pre-paid foreign currency cards. However, this often comes with: ● Foreign transaction fees (a percentage of each transaction). ● Currency conversion fees, charged by banks or card providers. These costs can be unclear at the time of purchase, leading to surprises when customers see their card statements. 3️⃣ How DCC benefits your customers: ● Convenience: No need for mental currency conversions - prices are displayed in their home currency. ● Transparency: They know exactly what they’re paying in real-time, with no hidden fees. ● Better customer experience: It’s seamless, straightforward, and tailored to their needs. 4️⃣ The benefits for your business: ● Additional Revenue: You get a share in the DCC fee for every foreign transaction. ● Predictable Payments: Exchange rates are locked at the point of sale, ensuring you're never paid less than the GBP equivalent. ● Enhanced Customer Experience: Happier customers mean greater loyalty and repeat business. 5️⃣ Simple to implement with Lloyds: DCC is easy to add to your existing payment setup through Lloyds’ integrated or standalone point-of-sale solutions and works seamlessly on websites or in-person systems. Importantly, your transaction processing fees won’t increase when you add DCC with Lloyds. Take the first step toward smarter payments.
