The aftermath of great event! Had the most wonderful evening discussing DE&I initiatives, views, and ideas with people leaders from BBC , Ogilvy , EY , BSI , Euromonitor International, Beazley , Fitch Solutions and more last night at a dinner hosted by Kike Oniwinde Agoro and BYP Network . We were all asked what / where we’d like to see improvements in DE&I. For me, it’s about trying to ensure that startup ecosystems begin to embrace more diverse pool of backgrounds, talent, experience, and ideas. And this isn’t just about founders and CEO looking at hiring practices and biases, but also in VC. Who are they investing in, which businesses are being promoted. Funds exist that invest exclusively in non-male, and non-caucasian founders - the mere existence and need for these “specialist funds” prove that there is an issue. DE&I has become a dog whistle political topic which is frankly, just really dumb. Just like any other initiative, there are good and bad examples and interpretations. Good, well considered, and executed DE&I policies support businesses in accessing new and different ideas, perspectives, and experiences all of which will ensure you stay relevant, dynamic, and exciting. Orrrr you can chase the whistle and watch you company become boring, stale, and out of touch. Your call!

Kicking Off 2025 with Purpose & Impact 🚀 The start of the year has been nothing short of inspiring for us. Our CEO, Ademola Jonathan Adeyeba, had the honour of speaking at key events, engaging in meaningful conversations, and collaborating with incredible organisations—all working towards empowerment, leadership, and community transformation. We kicked off the year at Black Men Teach's "Let’s Build a Stronger Community Together" event. At the event, Ademola delivered a keynote on the mindset to excel and thrive, sharing insights on how Black boys can break barriers and build a future of limitless potential. A huge thank you to the Black Men Teach team for creating such an impactful space for dialogue and change! We were then invited to BYP Network's "New Year, New Network" where Ademola spoke on mindset, transformation, and leadership, providing actionable steps for overcoming challenges and developing leadership skills. This event was a testament to the power of networking, mobilisation, and professional growth, and we’re grateful to have been part of it. To end a great month, we joined The Scouts for their National Scout Conference "Summit25". Looking ahead to the future, Summit25 brought together change-makers to reflect on the incredible work done through the Skills for Life strategy and plan for what’s next. It was truly an honour to engage in conversations that will help shape impactful strategies for 2026 and beyond. To everyone we’ve collaborated with, shared stages with, and built connections with—we celebrate you! “The Year Of Mobilisation” At the end of January, I attended BYP Network’s New Year, New Network event. Ironically, I had my eye on this event last year so decided to take the plunge and placed myself in attendance this year. It was a great decision, as I connected and and networked with an array of new people on the night. I particularly enjoyed the Speed Network Bingo (which I admittedly forgot to finish halfway through) since I had so many interesting conversations! The panel sessions, which included key speakers from Gartner and Mars were particularly thought provoking. I was definitely pushed out of my comfort zone as I hadn’t been to a networking event for a long time prior to this. Paul Tazewell has made history by becoming the first Black man to win the Academy Award for Best Costume Design, honored for his exceptional work on the film adaptation of Wicked at the 97th Academy Awards. Career Highlights: Broadway Debut: Tazewell's Broadway journey began with the groundbreaking musical Bring in 'Da Noise, Bring in 'Da Funk in 1996. Tony Award Win: He earned the Tony Award for Best Costume Design for his work on Lin-Manuel Miranda's Hamilton in 2016. Emmy Award: In 2016, Tazewell received a Primetime Emmy Award for his designs in The Wiz Live!. Tazewell's Oscar win not only celebrates his individual talent but also signifies a monumental step forward in representation within the film industry. His achievements serve as an inspiration for aspiring Black costume designers and underscore the importance of diversity in storytelling. In his acceptance speech, Tazewell expressed immense pride and acknowledged the significance of his win, stating, "I'm so proud of this moment, not just for me, but for all the young Black designers who now see themselves reflected in this achievement."
