Mayor of London Sadiq Khan has called on businesses and public bodies to help more #digitally #excluded Londoners get online by #donating unwanted mobile phones, laptops and other IT #equipment - more than 100,000 Londoners have already been supported by Get Online London, the capital’s first ever digital #inclusion service set up by City Hall and the London Office of Technology & Innovation (LOTI). But around two million residents across the capital still have very limited digital engagement, such as lacking their own device or facing difficulties with online services. Over 250,000 are completely offline, with no internet access at all, according to LOTI’s Research into Digital Inclusion in London. More... https://lnkd.in/eK8_XvJM

A milestone hit: over 100,000 Londoners have been supported by Get Online London with the London Office of Technology & Innovation (LOTI) and the Good Things Foundation. Tackling digital exclusion is vital to building a fairer London for everyone. But demand still far outstrips supply. I urge businesses and public bodies to donate unused IT devices to ensure no Londoner is left behind.

Very excited to be hosting this workshop alongside London Office of Technology & Innovation (LOTI), where we'll explore how local councils can tackle poverty using a holistic, person-centred approach. Lingjing Yin and I have been thinking deeply about how local authorities like the Royal Borough of Greenwich can work in a more joined-up way to offer deeper wraparound support to residents. We see potential in bringing together expertise across housing, public health, employment, welfare rights, customer services, and more.
