2024 was a cracker of a year for LoveReading. 🏆 We were shortlisted for 4 Awards, a huge testament to the organisation we are building with social purpose at its heart. 💷 £80,000 now donated to UK schools to further foster reading for pleasure. We love it when schools really take advantage of the offerings we've built here at LoveReading and lovereading4kids. We knew when we launched our bookstore in 2022, that we needed to offer something different. Something unique. Something special. The donate button on our homepage gives our visitors the opportunity to donate directly to a school close to their heart, every penny donated will go directly to schools, for them to buy books for their students. Stanion CofE Primary School in Kettering have used this donate button feature and kindly asked parents to consider a donation for reading materials, rather than a gift for teachers and staff. The donation page allows families to donate any amount they wish and there is an option for them to write a message. Dedication plates will be placed in the books once purchased. “The mind of an adult begins in the imagination of a child” said the incredible author Kwame Alexander this afternoon as he picked up his awards at the The School Library Association (SLA) Information Book of the Year. His book Unspoken, which lovereading4kids awarded a Star Book is a mighty, moving picture book for all ages which tells truths about slavery with bold poetic power. It’s a book that is banned in his own country but which today won awards voted by children. The emotion in the room was palpable. Books are everything. They empower us. Inspire us. Educate us. Kids, you are absolute superstars! We are so proud of you. lovereading4kids is delighted to announce the winners of the 2024 Poetry Prize in association with National Poetry Day, during the UK’s biggest annual celebration of poetry, encouraging all to enjoy, discover and share poetry. It was an immensely difficult task for the judging panel to pin the hundreds and hundreds of entries down to the shortlist. They then debated and battled for their Judges' Winner.
