About us

We Are Maeving. Maeving are a British maker of electric motorcycles. Our bikes are classically styled and practical machines that channel the best of British motorcycle design heritage into a new type of electric vehicle. Faster and safer than e-bikes or e-scooters, they are made for you, for the city, and for the planet. Maeving’s bikes feature removable batteries that you can charge from any UK plug socket, making it easy to ‘re-fuel’ and bringing an end to range anxiety. We’re making a future where your electric motorcycle is charged at your desk at work, not in your garage. We provide an end-to-end experience through www.maeving.com, ensuring that our customers get the best from their bikes by buying direct from us, the makers. We deliver to you for free, and service your bike at your door, making the buying and owning experience fuss-free. No dealer networks, no nonsense. Our motorcycles allow our customers to achieve zero-emission personal transport and have the potential to radically transform our cities, making them cleaner, quieter, and healthier. And finally, they’re priced to save the world too – because they need to make sense to make a difference. We Are Maeving. We Make Progress.

  • Maeving in 2024: A Year of Growth and Recognition From delivering the first Maeving RM1S bikes to launching in new countries and winning prestigious awards, we’ve taken big steps on our mission to bring the freedom and joy of electric riding to as many people as possible this year. Here are three highlights from 2024: 1. Unveiling the Maeving RM1S This year marked the highly anticipated arrival of the Maeving RM1S, our second model designed to extend the joy of Maeving to riders living beyond the city centre. In April, early adopters gathered at The Bike Shed in Shoreditch for an exclusive unveiling event, setting the stage for the first deliveries over the summer. The response has been phenomenal across our four markets—three of which we launched in this year alone. 2. Launching in Germany, France, and the USA 2024 saw Maeving go international, bringing our electric motorcycles to some of the world’s most iconic roads. We started with Germany, a country renowned for its appreciation of high-quality engineering and sleek design. Next came France, where Maeving bikes found new homes along scenic routes from Alsace to the Côte d’Azur and in the mountains of Chamonix. Finally, building on our 2023 California launch, we expanded across the United States. From Manhattan’s bustling streets to Miami’s sun-soaked boulevards, the Maeving RM1S is set to bring freedom and joy across American roads in 2025. 3. Multi-Award-Winning RM1S On top of the exceptional feedback from its riders and the press, the Maeving RM1S has won two prestigious industry awards this year, solidifying its position as a leader in its category. In August, we were immensely proud to see the RM1S named the ‘Best Urban Electric Motorcycle’ by MCN, the most trustworthy voice in British motorcycling. Their reviewers pull no punches, so having our new model recognised by them as best-in-class is a real honour. Then in October, we were awarded the prestigious Simms Medal by the Royal Automobile Club for “creating an innovatively designed, technically advanced, and attractive electric motorbike for urban and suburban riders that addresses charging challenges and appeals to a broader customer base.” You can read our full reflection on a fantastic 2023 here: https://lnkd.in/e8wCWt5U To everyone that’s been part of our journey this year, thank you. Your support means everything. We wish you a relaxed and joyful holiday season. Charge on.

  • We are incredibly proud to have been awarded the prestigious Simms Medal by the Royal Automobile Club for the Maeving RM1S. Following in the footsteps of innovators like Williams Advanced Engineering, McMurty Automotive, Ariel Motor Company, and land speed record holders, Maeving was recognised for "creating an innovatively designed, technically advanced, and attractive electric motorbike for urban and suburban riders that addresses charging challenges and appeals to a broader customer base." Ben Cussons, Chairman of the judges on the Royal Automobile Club Technical Committee (which awards the Simms Medal), said: "Maeving's achievement in designing and building an attractive and innovative electric motorcycle in the UK is a project that Frederick Simms [founder of the Royal Automobile Club] would have been proud of. The business exudes the passion of its founders but has the financial backing and commercial nous that will help it achieve its ambitious aims." This award marks a significant milestone for Maeving. We believe electric motorcycles have the power to transform urban and suburban mobility for the better. The Maeving RM1S embodies our mission: a beautiful, practical, and sustainable machine that delivers the convenience of electric riding while preserving the freedom and joy that have always defined motorcycling—all wrapped in timeless British style and engineering heritage. Thank you to the Royal Automobile Club for the Simms Medal — it is a true honour. • Maeving in the Mirror, Express, and Star. As legendary motorcycle and travel writer Geoff Hill points out, the Maeving RM1S is the 'torque of the town.' In fact, Hill's review of our latest model, which appeared in Reach plc's Mirror, Express, and Star on Sunday, 6th October, is symbolic of the impact it's making in the motorcycle industry. The accolades—'a thing of beauty,' 'delightfully sprightly,' and, most notably, 'a winner'—are exceptional endorsements from someone as seasoned as Geoff Hill. Even if you missed the paper, you can experience the Maeving RM1S firsthand by ordering online or booking a free test ride. • Maeving is available across the USA! We're delighted to announce that following our successful launch in California in December 2023, the Maeving RM1S is now available to order nationwide. At Maeving, we prioritize excellence over rapid expansion. That's why we spent our first two-and-a-half years perfecting how we operate in the UK, why we began in California, a state known for its high EV adoption rate, and why now, after successfully introducing the Maeving RM1S to four markets, we are in a position to spread our wings and offer our second model to the entire US. From commuters weaving through Manhattan's bustling streets to Miamians cruising along sun-soaked shores, from Chicago creatives chasing their next big idea to LA dreamers breezing through traffic—the Maeving RM1S is set to bring freedom and joy to American roads in spring 2025. • Maeving on BBC Radio 4! Co-founder Seb Inglis-Jones recently had a conversation with the formidable Winifred Robinson on the Gap Finders segment of BBC Radio 4's long-running consumer affairs programme, You and Yours. Seb was quizzed on everything from the challenges of starting a British automotive company from the ground up to the reasons behind Maeving's old-meets-new design. The interview, of course, also touched on the gap in the market that Maeving seeks to exploit. This gap, Seb explained, became evident when noticing the stark discrepancy between electric motorcycle sales in the West and Asia. "The year we started the business, 297 electric motorbikes and scooters were sold in total in this country," Seb adds, "while in the same year in China, it was over 20 million. Clearly, there was something we had all missed, and the simple answer was removable batteries." You can listen to the entire interview here: https://lnkd.in/e4Ghb_95 Charge on ⚡

  • "The more electric bikes there are on our roads—the less cars—the better our cities become for everyone." Despite his towering 6'6" height and powerful proclamations, Fully Charged's Jack Scarlett deeply appreciates the small, compact, and understated profile of the Maeving RM1S. Fully Charged is a leading voice in the electric vehicle industry, known for producing engaging, informative, yet ultimately impartial reviews of the latest zero-emission vehicles. So, it was a significant endorsement for their recent review of the Maeving RM1S to declare in its title, "This Small British Bike Could SAVE Motorcycling." We'll let their fantastic video review do the talking, but there's one quote that perfectly captures the best use case for electric motorcycles and what we set out to achieve when we design our bikes: "We need to start making bikes that make sense in today's world. That means smaller, simpler, lighter, greener, and cheaper to run. In other words, bikes like this [the Maeving RM1S]." • We are immensely proud to announce that the Maeving RM1S won the 'Best Urban Electric' motorcycle at MCN's 2024 awards ceremony. MCN, for those who aren't plugged into the industry, is the most trustworthy voice in British motorcycling. Their reviewers are rigorous and pull no punches, so having our new model recognised by them as best-in-class is a real honour. We are very grateful. Though it takes a whole company to make a motorcycle, our greatest thanks must go to our engineering team whose expertise, care, and passion have led to the creation of another industry-leading bike. No stone is left unturned during the process of making a Maeving, and it is this attention to every detail that makes the final product so special.
