Icom UK has appointed Nikki Sanderson as its new marketing and sales assistant. In her role, Nikki will collaborate closely with marketing manager Ian Lockyer to drive the company’s marketing and sales efforts. Sanderson has experience in sales and project management across various sectors including manufacturing, engineering and security. The Italian Sea Group S.p.A, a global luxury yachting company, has announced that Gianmaria Costantino — the son of the company founder Giovanni Costantino — will oversee its worldwide commercial activities as chief commercial officer. The world’s largest boat club operator and part of the Brunswick brand, Freedom Boat Club, is expanding into New Zealand. Continuing its plans for expansion in the Asia-Pacific region, the strategic move will establish three key locations, leveraging the country’s position as the global leader in per capita boat ownership at 20 per cent. ePropulsion Americas has unveiled new 96V marine propulsion products aimed at boatbuilders, expanding its electric drive offerings for the 2025 model year.  The firm showcased three new products at the recent METSTRADE. The Pod Drive 20 eSSA is central to the launch, a compact under-hull motor unit compatible with Volvo and Yanmar sail drive mounts. The first electric hydrofoiling ferry in the US is set to begin operations on Lake Tahoe, offering a new transportation option for skiers and other visitors. The Candela P-12, developed by Swedish technology company Candela, will be introduced in collaboration with local operator FlyTahoe. METSTRADE 2024 closed last week after recording its highest ever attendance of leading marine professionals from across the globe. The 36th edition of the show welcomed nearly 1,600 exhibitors across 12 halls at RAI Amsterdam and recorded 31,824 visits from 19,779 unique attendees, representing 134 nationalities. Supermarket chain Lidl GB has entered the maritime market with its gravy yacht fleet. The new fleet of Lidl gravy boats, styled as miniature yachts, feature 100 standard 2-litre vessels and five flagship superyachts boasting a larger, 5-litre capacity. Designed specifically in response to the fact that ‘there is never enough gravy to go around’, the supermarket chain claims traditional gravy boats do not meet the demands of festive dining. Italy has entered the SailGP racing circuit, announcing a new team led by America’s Cup veteran Jimmy Spithill and Olympic champion Ruggero Tita. The team will compete for the first time at the season launch, the Emirates Dubai Sail Grand Prix, which kicks off this weekend (23-24 November). UK-based marina operator MDL Marinas Ltd reports a recent rise in interest in its dry stack options, with boaters prioritising secure and well-maintained storage. The firm says it is meeting demand with expanded capacity and additional dry stack features across its marina portfolio. MDL Marinas says it is adapting to meet this trend through its dry stack facilities.
