Billions of people want to move countries, but when they do they are locked out or overcharged for the financial products most people take for granted. Since 2017 we've set out to change that. We've since insured over 1 million people, and are one of the fastest-growing companies in Europe doing over half a billion of annual revenue. And, we've only just got started - we have so many more products to build & customers to service. We believe to be continually successful we need to attract the best people.     You have to have passion for operations. This is my 11th year in operations and some key principles continue to hold true in this field : - A people-centric and solution-oriented mindset is essential. - Challenges are constant and inevitable. - There is always room for growth and skill development. - Starting your journey in an entry-level role and interacting directly with customers strengthens your foundation. - Passion for operations is crucial to both enjoying and excelling in this field. Operations can be intense and it's often described as difficult and fast-paced by outsiders. While it is challenging, I believe this environment offers the greatest opportunities for rapid growth. Over the years, I was very lucky to be working with many talented individuals across three companies - some of whom didn’t even realize at first their own potential. With the right attitude, work ethic, patience, and cultural alignment, they’ve made it to their desired levels of expertise and roles. The biggest obstacle to success is not the lack of skills or willingness - it's impatience. I’ve witnessed people leaving organizations way too soon when there was clearly an opportunity waiting for them further down the line if they had only exercised a little more patience. I’ve also met individuals who simply weren’t a good fit for operations, and that’s okay — it’s important to recognize when a role isn’t the right one for you. After 11 years in operations, with 7 of those in a managerial role, one of my greatest confirmation of my role remains people acknowledging me for the things they're looking for in a manager. There is a common sentiment I’ve come across on social media : “Be the best manager they’ve ever had.” I don't think this sentence makes sense. People will probably never learn new Excel formulas from me and that won't make me a weaker manager - just not the best 'Excel-skilled' manager they've ever met. I believe it’s not about being the best in every respect; be the manager for them who you wish to have for yourself as well. I have a saying which I made up some years ago - imagine you're sitting in a car with your team; be the GPS in their hand but let them drive the car - show the direction at the beginning and jump in only when you see they're losing the right path or they're asking for your guidance. 2025 will be a busy one again. I'm committed to make people understand how essential they're for our success by having a list of things I want to make better this year, but as probably the most important one - show them how we will keep making customers satisfied by enjoying what we're doing in the meanwhile. From sourcing case valuation systems to setting up performance metrics (MI), we've ensured a strong foundation for sustainable success.  🔹 Empowering: By expanding the handler levels within the department, we've unlocked greater operational efficiency and agility, enabling faster decision-making and improved customer outcomes.  🔹 Insourcing for Excellence: Bringing Personal Injury claims handling in-house was a game-changer. So, take a look and ping me if you have any questions. 🔢 Data gets us excited Every decision we make is backed by data, whether it’s straight from our users or from a deep dive into our funnels, insights drive us forward. This means, we’d love to hear about how you’ve had impact and made a difference in your previous roles to both the business and customer. 💨 We’re not afraid of moving fast Yes cliche, but, we do move fast. It helps us learn quickly and allows you to have impact from day 1. For example, in the Growth team we’ve had experiments running every week and have kept this up for the last few quarters. When interviewing, talk through the times that you’ve had to make compromises, simplify designs, adapt your process or run experiments to hit delivery milestones. 🔮 We like to plan ahead Although we move quickly, we do have foresight. We like to understand the big picture and work iteratively towards it.
