You can book in with us for free and we will reserve you a table in our café and make sure someone is available to serve you. About us
MAST Mayflower Studios is a multi-artform venue with three creative spaces, meeting rooms, and office space for our resident partners. Studio 1 is our largest space, with a capacity of 449 seats across the stalls and the balcony. We present a mixture of touring and produced work in Studio 1. Studio 2 is our most versatile space, a black box theatre with bleacher seating for 119 which can be retracted to accommodate 170 standing. Studio 2 is often used for Artist Development, Community and Youth Theatre work, including scratch and smaller scale performances. Studio 3 is our smallest space, most commonly used for workshops, rehearsals and Youth Theatre sessions. In addition to our studios MAST is also home to two spacious meeting rooms, both available for hire, and a modern café. MAST’s level one café is the perfect spot for a coffee with friends or a study session, serving a variety of drinks, snacks and hot food.

Last night we welcomed the inspirational Baroness Floella Benjamin OBE to MAST Mayflower Studios for the official launch of the brand-new stage adaptation, Coming to England, which is based on Floella Benjamin's award-winning book. Coming to England tells Floella’s own story of emigrating to England as a child. Co-produced by MAST Mayflower Studios, Nicoll Entertainment and Floella Benjamin, we were delighted to host the night for press, board members, the creative team and to our community groups within the city. Floella is pictured outside MAST Mayflower Studios and with our Executive Director, Sara Scott.

This afternoon, we attended the UK Theatre Awards as we were nominated in the Excellence in Arts Education category. We want to extend a huge congratulations to the Royal Shakespeare Company who won the category and a thank you to UK Theatre Awards for nominating us. Project Spotlight: A Study in Colourism Meet Don John, who has 40 years of experience in the race and diversity field and has made a vital contribution to arts and culture in England today. This #BlackHistoryMonth, Don has worked with individuals from the community and a local photographer to present ‘A Study in Colourism’ throughout #Southampton. The exhibition features portraits of the local Black community, lensed by Nosa Malcolm, alongside a documentary on ‘Shadism’ and information about historical prejudicial practices. Don hopes the public will spend time with each face, learn their unique story and prompt discussions on identity and belonging.
