Interested to know which conversations dominated social media during COP29? And were they reflective of the news narrative or did the public take a different view? The 2024 UN Climate Conference took place in Azerbaijan last month, generating a lot of noise from both the media and the public worldwide. We used the powerful social listening and analytics tool Brandwatch to keep a close eye the social media conversations surrounding the conference to see if the headlines driven by the news media aligned with topics most discussed on social media. It was a pleasure to work with SSEN Transmission to design, develop and deliver a new Sustainability Hub, as part of the launch of its Sustainability Strategy in late September this year. SSEN Transmission is responsible for the electricity transmission network in the North of Scotland and has a critical role in the UK’s transition to net zero. The purpose of the new Sustainability Hub is to equip employees across the business with the skills, knowledge and resources that will help them contribute to SSEN Transmission’s short- and long-term sustainability goals and targets. The project involved an initial internal consultation with SSEN Transmission employees from across the business, to identify user needs and conduct a gap analysis which helped to shape and inform the content strategy for the Sustainability Hub. Our studio team then designed and built the interactive and fully branded Hub via SharePoint, which also included the development of training videos to help users navigate the Hub and find information relevant to their specific role within the business.

A month ago today, we helped Specsavers Scottish Music Awards celebrate Scotland's top music talent and raise £191,000 for Nordoff and Robbins The event raised almost £10K more than last year and we loved being part of the process. Throughout the campaign we managed the press office, generating a diverse spread of media coverage across print, online and broadcast media, as well as running the event’s social channels in the build up to the event and on the night. We've been involved with the Scottish Music Awards in one way or another for almost a decade and playing a small part in the ever-growing profile of this event is something we take great pride in. In October, our client at Scottish Leather Group (SLG) published their 21st annual ESG Report. As part of this, we helped SLG to curate key messages and highlights of the past year’s achievements into a piece of master film content, to sit alongside the full report on the Group’s website. The master film was accompanied by several breakout vignettes, for use across SLG's group and brand social platforms (including Bridge of Weir Leather and Muirhead Leather). Each breakout film focussed on a specific ESG achievement from the report, whilst linking back to the full ESG Report website hub. The creation of this accessible, shorter-form content allowed our client’s various group and brand marketing teams to socialise their annual ESG achievements across multiple platforms and touchpoints, enabling them to engage a broad range of industry and trade audiences with their report content and results. 🎥 Venture Creative

Last month, we were once again honoured to support our client at The Macallan in the planning and execution of their 4th annual in-person gathering of The Macallan Artisan Collective. The Macallan Artisan Collective provides a forum for likeminded master makers who are dedicated to protecting, preserving and adapting traditional crafts and skills for generations to come. This year’s gathering, held at The Macallan Estate, brought together Artisan Collective members alongside key team leads from The Macallan (as well as our own Head of Sustainability and Insight, Kirstie Macdonald), as they each delivered a series of inspiring presentations throughout the day – before ending the evening with an exceptional dining experience, cocktails and – of course - a dram. A huge thank you to our inspirational client team and colleagues at The Macallan and the entire Artisan Collective cohort for making this year’s two-day event so special. We love our golf at Material, so when we got the chance to help Bunkered - one of the UK’s top selling golf magazines and websites - to rebrand in 2021, we jumped at the chance. We were tasked with breathing new life into the Bunkered brand as part of an overhaul of its print and online platforms. The Material studio brought a contemporary edge to the word marque, including a graphic device which played to the brand’s increasingly digital first output. We think we aced it 🏌
