  • Last year, at Meadows, we set ourselves an ambitious goal, to commit 500 hours to social value. But thanks to the brilliant work and dedication from all of you, we didn't just meet that goal—we absolutely smashed it, achieving an astonishing 3,718 hours! Here’s how we made a difference through our 5 key outlets: 💙 Social: Supporting our local communities through meaningful engagement. We contributed to Red Heart Month, our young people baked cupcakes for the elderly and visited them in their home, we had lots of incredible Eid celebrations, we supported International Women’s Day, one of our lovely staff donated to the Little Princess Trust, we had ‘walks for charity’, we sponsored a local festival, and that’s to name just a few! We also raised £1,014.56 for Macmillan Cancer Support, Meadows nominated charity for 2024. 🌱 Growth: Meadows Care is constantly growing as a business, meaning we are constantly creating job opportunities, utilising local businesses and making a difference to young people's lives in society. 🌍 Environment: Meadows took part in Recycling Day, we held a sunflower competition, we transformed one of our homes into an ‘eco’ home for the very first time, and that’s just to name a few. 👩💼 Jobs: Meadows constant commitment to training, development, and career progression ensures that our lovely employees have the opportunity to thrive. Meadows also attend local jobs fairs to recruit people from the local community. 🚀 Innovation: Meadows are constantly driving forward new ideas and initiatives to improve lives. In 2024, our innovative BRIDGE group contributed 1140 hours alone through some incredible work throughout the year, celebrating difference and different traditions. We couldn’t have done it without the collective effort of everyone involved – so thank you! After such a successful year this, we have decided to ‘up’ our goal and set out target to 5000 hours for 2025! Here’s to 2025!

  • We are delighted to share and congratulate John Shaw, one of our Residential Support Workers, who has just won the Man of Rochdale 2024 Award! John is the perfect example of someone who deserves to win the Man of Rochdale 2024 award and we are very proud. John received over 40 nominations. Here are some of the incredible words said about John in the nominations: ‘John is part of the Good Solution Network and he collects food for the Food Pantries, Army of Kindness, Heywood, Middleton & Rochdale Circle and countless other charities in Rochdale. He receives no external funding and relies on those charities to give a donation towards his fuel cost. He does a tremendous amount of good work helping feed the hundreds of homeless and less fortunate people in Rochdale.’ ‘I would like to nominate John Shaw for the Man of the Year award. Over the past ten years, John has tirelessly worked to help the homeless and those in need across our borough. His contributions have been extraordinary, especially throughout the COVID-19 pandemic. John helped serve 200,000 meals during the pandemic and delivered 350 food parcels each week. Even now, he donates 1,000 meals every week to support those in need. In the last three months alone, John has provided 2,000 pairs of boots and 650 winter coats to rough sleepers across the North West. Additionally, he has distributed 96,000 items valued at £400,000 to 40 groups in Rochdale. Last Christmas, John collected 2,000 toys for children, and at Easter, he provided 1,200 Easter eggs and 1,000 selection boxes. Each week, John organizes the provision of 30 food parcels for families, and at the Army of Kindness food bank every Thursday, he ensures that essentials such as tea, coffee, bread, milk, and biscuits are available, personally bringing 80 bottles of milk and loaves of bread to support the cause. John’s dedication and generosity are unparalleled, and I believe his tireless efforts make him a deserving candidate for the Man of the Year award. ‘ ‘John literally never ever stops caring. He works tirelessly to make sure that those in need get food parcels, Christmas & Easter gifts, day to day supplies and clothing, drinks in hot and cold weather. He collects and delivers food supplies at his own expense and shares them with countless other charities, he goes where ever the need is greatest. He has a full time (very long shifts) job and a family to support himself, but whatever the situation or the weather, John will find a way to help those in distress and despair. His work is well known throughout the borough and further afield, he is so very respected by those who know him, and he never ever asks for anything for himself. He deserves recognition for his own journey and many years of support to the local communities.’ Huge congratulations to you John! #makeadifference

  • In line with Anti-Bullying week this week, Meadows will be participating in World Kindness Day 2024 on Wednesday 13th November. ‘Kindness has the power to change the world’ ❤️ Kindness can go a long way, and random acts of kindness can have a huge positive impact on someone’s day. As Meadows random act of kindness, we will be giving away some vouchers to our incredible employees throughout the day tomorrow. We want to make a difference. #WorldKindnessDay
