The good the bad and the ugly from George Murgatroyd himself. Tune in to The Healthcare Podcast to learn more about AI in medicine. #Medtronic #AI
Dare I say it myself, an extraordinary end-of-year podcast about the good, the bad and the ugly of medical digital products; healthcare AI and ethics; starting businesses in garages; and even playing rock gigs in Wolverhampton... It was great fun to sit down with Dr. James Somauroo in a recent The Healthtech Podcast and openly chat through some big opportunities and challenges ahead of us in med tech - plus a look back at the past 20 years. https://lnkd.in/eNch3SBC How does a design team make decisions when their mission is to disrupt the status quo and increase access to robotic surgery? Jiqi Cheng, Ph.D., Senior Principal R&D Engineer for Surgical Robotics, has been central to this process from the earliest days of developing the Hugo Robotic-Assisted Surgery system. He shares his insights about why the team decided to create a modular system that could move between ORs and about the critical role surgeon collaborators played in the process. https://lnkd.in/eNch3SBC #Medtronic #HugoRAS #RoboticAssistedSurgery #SurgicalRobotics

Hear from George Murgatroyd on how Medtronic is "already tackling inefficiencies and supporting doctors and patients, using AI and precision engineering." #Medtronic #AI
Is the #NHS digital transformation the most complex system-wide digital challenge on the planet? That's what I stated in this interview. With 8,500 distinct organisations at (very) different stages of maturity, 1.5 million patients treated daily, and 1.3 million full-time NHS staff, the scale and the complexity is...well... big. Having worked in, for and with the NHS for many years, and across industry, its complexity really is bigger than any other digital transformation I can think of. But I am optimistic. These are the innovations underway that will underpin a future where procedures are smarter, less invasive, and more efficient. And there is an opportunity for automated assistance to start supporting the currently very manual tasks that are, at best, taking up unnecessary time of professionals, and at worst, causing burn out. In the interview I mention technology like #Medtronic’s Touch Surgery, GI Genius and PillCam, which are already tackling inefficiencies and supporting doctors and patients, using AI and precision engineering. More of my thoughts in the interview with Healthcare Business International https://t.ly/hCsWh (behind a paywall) #HealthcareInnovation #DigitalTransformation #medtronicemployee #NHS

George Murgatroyd thinks the forms of technology used in healthcare today are just "bonkers" ... what do you think? #Medtronic #DigitalTechnologies #Letsgetdigtial
I used the word bonkers in this interview, and I'm standing by it. "A lot of surgeons...still have to resort to forms of technology which are just bonkers in 2024" is what I said. The Darzi Report made one thing clear: the NHS is due a digital transformation. It’s imperative we have realistic conversations about how we take the NHS from analogue to digital. I spoke to Medical Device Network about how we invest into transforming the landscape of our healthcare systems, cutting the backlogs and freeing up time for our NHS professionals. Streamlined, user-friendly digital services have the potential to help improve our treasured health service. Check out the full article https://lnkd.in/eDXgvqvf Mark Leftwich also quoted! #bonkers
Can more investment save the NHS from failing technology?
