It was pleasure to attend the first First Friday Club editor’s briefing of 2025 today. It featured excellent presentations from Schneider Electric on AI’s critical role in driving a more sustainble industrial strategy and the importance of digitalising water utility infratstructure. In more tangible territory, igus UK showcased its dryspin leadscrew technology, optimising rotational to linear movement for a wide variety of applications, while John Campbell, Emeritus Professor of Casting Technology, University of Birmingham, enthused on the benefits of counter-gravity casting in metallurgy. Thanks to all speakers today, including Matthew Aldridge, Robert Day, Maria Tjader & François Disch, as well as organisers Neil Fullbrook, MCIPR, Elaine Cobb, BEng, Madeline De'Cort at Cadence.

Silverson Machines has recently added more 30 second mixing guides to their series of ‘Shorts’ available on the Silverson YouTube channel.
