Creating Shareholder Value

About us

Meridian often invest in engaged client businesses across a wide range of sectors that fit our criteria. Established in 2009, our focus covers very early stage to late stage, as well as exceptional start up opportunities. Our aim is to add value and expertise to companies and assist them through applying our “next step thinking” in achieving their growth objectives, with the ultimate goal of assisting with a profitable exit at the right time. We typically invest between £50,000 and £500,000 and focus on backing dynamic and proven management teams. We do not ask for any control in the business and usually take a minority stake. If appropriate, we will take a Board position and have an enviable track record assisting in the delivery of significant shareholder value by becoming more involved and gaining a more in depth understanding of your business. Don’t take our word for it, we have several early and late stage companies, as well as investments that we have exited that demonstrate that working with Meridian has been game changing. For more information on our investment strategy and backgrounds please visit our website or to discuss an opportunity please call us on 0044 (0)23 8026 8793.

  • Many congratulations to Harald Philipp, our friend, colleague and one of the original founders of Meridian Growth Capital LLP who recently celebrated his 70th birthday at a lavish party in Switzerland. Hal is an incredible force, with an inventive and professional background spanning several decades and industries and has been instrumental to MGC’s journey.    Having had an extremely successful career 20 years prior, Hal is most famous for inventing and patenting the first charge-transfer (‘QT’) capacitive sensor and went on to establish Quantum Research Group in 1996. Quantum quickly became a dominant force in the capacitive touch sensing industry manufacturing the sensors for industrial and commercial applications. In the ensuing years, Hal was granted c.80 patents, including capacitive touch sense and is wholly responsible for creating a zombie generation of smart phone users! Customers and licensees included Apple, Motorola, Nokia, Samsung, LG, Sony, GE, Electrolux, Whirlpool, Bose, and hundreds of others. Hal engaged with Meridian Corporate Finance in 2007 to sell QRG, and we successfully completed the sale in March 2008 to Nasdaq listed Atmel Corporate Inc. (“Atmel”) for a total consideration well in excess of £100m at a forward EBITDA multiple of 50x. Having created such a successful relationship during this high profile sale, Hal, Darren Thompson and Michael Barcia joined forces to establish Meridian Growth Capital with a goal of helping start-ups and early stage companies make their mark in the world (like LoveHolidays, Blis, Biofidelity, StorMagic & NewsWhip) and as they say the rest is history! Happy 70 years young Hal!

  • One month in and Christmas feels a long time ago already! 2023 was a great year for the Meridian team as we saw significant growth in the Growth Capital side of the business with a new investment in the travel sector, and a follow on investment in TMA Data Management. Alongside this we closed the year off with two landmark deals on the CF side in December – CNC’s sale to LivingBridge backed FluidOne, and the sale of RiskSTOP to Ardonagh Advisory. 2024 has gotten off to a flying start having received Heads of Terms on three clients in January, and two acquisitions in progress within the MGC portfolio! On top of this we are speaking to multiple businesses looking to engage for sales processes in the current year. #meridian #corporatefinance #companysales #growthcapital #privateequity #investment #acquisitions #pipeline Philip MettamPrabin SunarKelly ChealesDarren ThompsonMichael BarciaGeorge ForganAntonia RobertsOlly Brice https://lnkd.in/eEAqeJJ7
