Featuring a 20mm diameter rod, these struts offer improved strength and load-bearing capacity compared to the previous model. Equipped with polyurethane seal and wipers and heavy-duty guide elements, they ensure consistent extension and compression, even in extreme conditions, preventing contaminants from affecting performance. These new struts also allow the user precise control of the force using the MET9010 family of pressure venting tools for easy pressure checks and adjustments, making them perfect for maintenance schedules, or adapting to different loads. Our customer was starting an exciting project to build a custom camper trailer from the ground up, using a range of our products, including gas struts, heavy duty hinges, and locks. We recently completed a replacement at Metrol and took the opportunity to demonstrate one of our popular products, the key locking thread insert. In this scenario, we replaced bolts on one of our CNC machines due to the thread being worn out. The original bolt had a larger diameter, but since we're installing a thread insert, the screw hole will be reduced in size, necessitating the use of a smaller bolt. With the help of the key locking thread insert, we can install the new bolt so that it fits perfectly in place. The key locking threaded insert is an excellent choice because, once installed, the alignment keys are tapped in, locking the insert securely and preventing it from moving or coming loose. As shown in the video, the old thread is drilled out and then a tap is used to cut new threads into the hole. After clearing up the space, the threaded insert is screwed in and installed. The thread is now in place but needs to be locked in, which is done by tapping in the alignment keys into the insert. Once these keys are tapped in, the insert is securely locked and won't shift from sudden movement. You can now screw the bolt into the thread and secure it firmly.
