  • Today we met with our talented design team lead by Nirmal Gandhi, who work with specialist CAD-CAM software to design forged parts and their respective tooling. The team define the forging process using a simulation software enabling them to digitally create and view parts before they enter production for our customers. The team are currently working on new projects that will continue to support our customers to deliver exceptional products. A special mention goes to Steve Green who’s been working with us for an impressive 43 years. Congratulations Steve!

  • Celebrating 50 years of service Today we are proud to celebrate our colleague Peter Bishop who has worked with us at Mettis for an incredible 50 years on 7th August. Pete began his career as one of twenty apprentices straight from school on our technical apprenticeship programme where he developed his career working within various areas of our business. He has gained a wealth of business knowledge from our technical department, drawing office, precision and forge which is where he was promoted as an engineering manager. Pete has contributed the last 20 years to our business development team where he currently works as our technical sales manager. Looking back over his 50-year career, Pete commented, “one of the highs of working at Mettis is that I’ve been able to travel the world whilst being able to work on many different and interesting projects. I feel proud to have contributed to the confidence that our customers have in us.” Martin Whittaker, our CEO thanked Pete for all his hard work over the years, congratulated him on this fantastic achievement and was delighted to reward him with a Spitfire experience day. #proud #50years

  • At Mettis we understand the materials we work with.. Today we met with our fantastic colleagues Fahad Khan, Paul Garton, and Dan Reed, who work within our extensive laboratory area. They work hard to ensure that our parts, consisting of materials such as aluminium, titanium, and steel, are tested to an extremely high standard. Our lab is NADCAP and UKAS (ISO 17025) approved and facilitates machining, mechanical, metallurgical, and chemical testing, which form part of our thorough checking process. Martin Whittaker, our CEO, commented, “Our lab team is vital to our business. They have specialist knowledge and experience that we rely on to ensure our parts are put through a robust inspection and testing regime, ensuring they are fit for purpose.” Fahad Khan said, “I have thoroughly enjoyed working with our lab team over the last seven years, and I was proud to show Martin today what we’ve accomplished so far and what we have planned for future testing.” #aerospace #testing #inspection

  • Meet the Team! Meet our colleagues Anthony Parry, John Lewis, Dale Robinson, and Graham Smith who have worked for over 20 years on our 12.5 Ton counter blow hammer. This manufacturing unit forges a multitude of class 1 airframe components, which are subsequently machined in our recently introduced state of the art machining facility, where we produce major finished assemblies for installation on the Airbus single aisle aircraft. Our CEO Martin Whittaker noted, “it was great to meet the guys and see them working together today. I am grateful for their ongoing exceptional teamwork and dedication which keeps these decades long traditional forging skills going and supporting British Industry.” #aerospace #forging #machining
