About us
Missing People is the only charity in the UK dedicated to bringing missing children and adults back together with their families. • Our free, confidential helpline is available by phone, text or email to missing children and adults, and their families. • Young people can also access information and help via our Runaway Helpline website www.runawayhelpline.org.uk. • In partnership with every police force in the UK, we circulate missing appeals via social media, digital billboards and in print to help find missing children and adults. • We provide face-to-face support for children after they return from being missing, helping them deal with the triggers that made them leave. Missing People relies on donations, volunteering and pro bono support from individuals, charitable trusts and companies – and we are passionate about giving back to everyone who helps the charity to be a lifeline. We are also committed to supporting and developing our staff and volunteers. We were delighted to come 18th in the annual Sunday Times "100 best not-for-profit organisations to work for" list in 2016. - To find out how you can help the charity Missing People please call 0800 64 77 464. - To call our helpline for free, confidential advice please call 116 000. - For information about current vacancies, see www.missingpeople.org.uk/work-for-us Registered charity in England and Wales (1020419) and in Scotland (SC047419)

People from Black communities are at increased risk of going missing, are more likely to stay missing for longer, and are less likely to be identified as at risk. We have also heard from families that they have face discrimination from the services that are supposed to support them, including the police. It is vital that complaints about discrimination are taken seriously and are used to drive change. We really welcome this report from the IOPC on race discrimination, and the accompanying guidance on how discrimination complaints should be handled.
Today we've published a package of tools to help improve #police handling of complaints involving #RaceDiscrimination. ▶️https://lnkd.in/e62UB-pV Our Director General Rachel Watson explains why it’s so important for policing to work together to tackle this issue. We have also produced resources to support police complaint handlers across England and Wales: 📋guidelines for handling allegations involving discrimination: https://rb.gy/v8puhu 🧰 a toolkit for complaint handlers: https://rb.gy/hpdkjj

This event highlighted Trainline’s remarkable contributions to leveraging technology for the greater good. Their app’s geo-targeted alerts provide real-time information directly to the public, exemplifying innovation in service of community safety.
